I like that you give your honest opinion! I understand where you are coming from; I struggled with the show a lot before it won me over. I stopped watching a couple times, and it was only when a friend sat down and watched it with me that I really got into it. I'm not trying to convince you you're wrong, I'm just trying to communicate what I love about this show. For instance, I love the slow, building dread of episode 49, and the way Nobunaga and Machi manage to both be correct in their own ways about who is following them. Again, not mad at all, please keep speaking your truth. (And I do think the show will win you over in the end).

2026-01-14 17:06:21 +0000 UTCUvo wasn't a speed type. He was a power type. Kurapika himself said that Uvo was his ideal first target. Kurapika is HIM, but he's also not. The fight with Uvo was a device to show that when used properly, Nen can be extremely powerful under the right circumstances. It is meant to get you asking questions about Kurapika's abilities in relation to the others. Generally, I think you're suffering from the anime truncating certain things that are spelled out a bit more clearly in the manga. One of the fanbase's biggest criticisms of the show is that it doesn't always do the story justice. I appreciate the honesty in your reactions and I'm not criticizing you here. I think that some of your earlier frustrations have built up a layer of bias that prevents you from suspending disbelief in the same way that you can and have suspended it for One Piece. I don't know what you could do about it, and I'm not even saying you should do anything about it. Maybe just being aware might help you to enjoy the things you enjoy a little bit more. I do believe the show will provide you with some of the explanations and plot that you are looking for and that you will enjoy it to completion, but, given your thoughts so far, I don't believe you'll come out of this thinking the anime is a masterpiece.
