A demo Android version is now available to try

Today marks the release of the free Android demo version of BFP. It's based on a pre-release version of v0.7.0 (which will be released on Patreon tomorrow), but is however limited in several key ways (see below).

PURPOSE

Due to the very wide range of Android phones, there is no guarantee that the Android version will perform or even function well. Since the Android version has so far been a Patreon only perk, there was no way to test it before becoming a supporter. This demo aims to remedy that, and offer a way to see if the game runs well on your device.

It is advisable to test the demo first and see how it performs on your device. 

Several resolution options are available that will allow it to perform better on less capable devices (check the Options menu)

The Android demo and full version are provided as-is. Reasonable effort has been put into optimizing it, but there will probably be quite a lot of device models I won't be able to support.

THE FULL ANDROID VERSION COMPARED TO THE WINDOWS VERSION

The full Android version has complete feature parity with the Windows version. Some graphical effects are not supported by the engine, but everything else is otherwise identical, only slightly optimized for mobile play in terms of UI.

DEMO VS FULL VERSION

• The demo contains only three predefined characters, which you will be able to edit and rename, but not save or delete

• The body type selection is limited

• Randomized character generation is disabled

• The number of stages / arenas to fight in is limited to two (Desert (day) and Jungle). Hell, Lounge, Desert (night) and the Boxing ring are only available in the full version

• The Gallery, which normally allows you to create your own matches, is also disabled

• All morphs, assets and actions (animations) are otherwise available

CONTROLS

The Android version uses a combination of gestures and tap-to-select actions to control the game. See the HOW TO PLAY and CONTROLS sections on the main game page for a full set of instructions. 

Hold the phone in landscape. Swipe up / down to control effort, and use your thumbs to control the camera. Double tapping resets / switches to the next camera profile.

The action picker has been moved to one side, in order to be easily accessible in handheld mode.
