Nine Sailed Star Sequel: New Kickstarter launches Tuesday, Oct 1
Added 2024-09-30 19:49:58 +0000 UTCTHE AETHER SPHERES UNIVERSE returns to Kickstarter for the second book in a series that readers call the "interstellar fantasy age of sail I didn't know I needed." Bold space opera meets fantasy adventure in an epic tale of "acceptance and redemption."

Thank you to everyone who has been asking about the sequel! We have everything lined up for the Kickstarter now. As with Nine Sailed Star, the book we're kickstarting is complete and fully edited. If the Kickstarter funds, you'll receive a copy of the ebook when we ship the hardcovers, at no extra cost to patrons.
Get the first peek at the October Kickstarter's rewards by clicking "Notify me on launch" on the project page: Void Spheres Special Edition: Age of Sail Fantasy in Space.
Ask any questions in the comments below, and we'll be happy to answer them!
Happy reading,

Well, I was just looking at 9 sailed star and wondering how much longer will be the wait for the sequel. This is good news!

2024-09-30 21:24:39 +0000 UTCWe're launching this one in Kickstarter because we did Book 1 there in 2022: https://www.patreon.com/posts/67142374 A Kickstarter edition allows us to do some special extras like a hardcover edition, signed copies, and illustrations. Void Spheres will follow the same publishing schedule as Nine Sailed Star did: - Kickstarter funds - Illustrations and interior formatting are finalized - Books are sent to printer - Printer sends books to distributor (and signed copies to us) - After the distributor ships the print copies, we send the ebook copies to Kickstarter backers and Patreon supporters - After backers and patrons for unsigned copies receive their rewards, we schedule a regular release for the ebook and paperback The main difference is that patrons get their copies a bit earlier in the cycle, and we get to add more flourishes for fans than we usually do. If the Kickstarter funds, we don't want to charge patrons extra, because we don't want to accidentally double the cost to those who want to support the illustrated edition. If the Kickstarter doesn't fund, then we won't do the illustrations or the extras, and we'll schedule Void Spheres as a regular release. Void Spheres will then be released as a charged post* on Patreon. *or the equivalent under Patreon's new rules. Does that answer your question? -Jack

2024-09-30 20:28:45 +0000 UTCIs the Kickstarter instead of your usual publishing? Will this book be released as an ebook if the Kickstarter doesn't fund? Am confused by the Kickstarter for this one.
