Yeah, this is a cover of 8Eight's song(3 member co-ed group consisting of Lee Hyun, Joo-Hee, and Baek Chan)- Without A Heart from 2009. Lee Hyun being the main vocal male for 8Eight and BTS's only 'big brother' in the company by the time they debuted. Lee Hyun has also covered a few BTS songs to show his love and appreciation for them, his Spring Day cover is one that ARMYs who have heard it- absolutely love. I believe some of us have mentioned that younger groups doing cover of senior groups is common in K-Pop, it's also common for younger groups to perform songs of the older groups in their own company(like you guys had mentioned), often favoring covers of groups in their company over groups in other companies. However, BTS mostly choose covers of songs they like, no matter if they're friendly with those senior groups or not. BTS doing this cover I think was more about appreciating their hyung- Lee Hyun who in their earlier years couldn't be there to cheer for them when they did debut, but always sent them well wishes and cheered for them from wherever he was (he was still serving military when BTS debuted, that's why he wasn't around). Also, 8Eight's music is more ballad based which a lot of the general public could listen to and liked. They always charted well in SK and many still listen to 8Eight's music. What isn't usual is older groups doing covers of younger groups, but Lee Hyun has done it a few times because he genuinely adores BTS and there's plenty of videos of BTS with Lee Hyun that show how close they are.
