1996/7 was a banner year for console emulation: NESticle, SNES96, VGB, the System16 emulator (IIRC), and several emulators that used the Starscream 68k code.. I had a Cyrix 6x86 PC and seemingly every month there were advances. Unfortunately, a lot of the progress was in closed source and things moved slower and with more fruitless competition (see how many m68k and Z80 cores there were). I'm looking forward to the Genecyst and related videos! It would be awesome to get an interview with the creators.
