Never had a GBC but I’ve seen that powering on with no cartridge gives a black bar where the Nintendo logo would be as well. On Gameboy Advance the Nintendo logo is simply missing with no cartridge (or poor contact as well if I remember correctly). Is this simply a visual reference or is it part of a boot check as well?
