We can't ditch the dance partner we have
Added 2023-07-19 13:37:45 +0000 UTCOver a year ago, I was sure Her Heart's Desire would be finished...summer, 2022. Skip to November, and it was done; except the big rewrite of Winter, 2023. That solved for a bunch of issues (more than I'd have ever guessed, really) and showed me that the game was not, despite my insistence, really done.
When I started Milfy Cases, the title went through two changes before launch, the beginning was rewritten not once but twice, and the story went through a few different iterations. I bought props from the Daz3d store, and many of those have yet to be placed into a single render. Mistakes were made.
I'm taking up to two weeks - this week, and then if it takes more, another - to go through and pretty up the dance partner (Her Heart's Desire) who's been sitting lonely in the corner for months, crying over their flaws. Poor sound editing & quality in a few spots. Confusing narrative, and the egregious issue of not labeling the narrator vs the main character's thoughts.
The lack of character labels really bugged me when I played through and in three minutes, I was pretty confused. Despite me being the writer, creator, and sober for years now (since before I started producing games under the Big Chungus Productions brand) - my work wasn't somehow perfectly complete & awesome. Yeah, I am still learning that just like the novels I wrote in the past, visual novels require the same editorial process, care, and revision that longer form fiction goes through.
I've got a bonus scene with Daisy, Jen, and the main character which was hinted at in the game, but never really happened. Personally, I hate seeing a theme, or plot point, hinted at and never acted on in a story.
Are there other things you'd like to see in Her Heart's Desire? Characters joining together in scenes, or story arcs that feel like they should be there, but sadly are missing in the current version? It's possible this is the last, last set of edits & improvements. I considered more, but the simple fact is many aspects of the game are solid. It's just some items which detract from the totality of the pretty picture.
Anyway, back at the writing & edits.
Stay thirsty,
