Mr Bookman, an all time favorite

Is this an episode? Says unlocked

"Sidney, don't say another fuckin' word, or I'll get up and bury this phone in your head!" (I know, it's not his line, but it's directed at him, and I love the "Oh, well..." looks he gives Dennis Farina.)

"no jesus christ john don't go to vegas" -- hard eight

"i am happy to see that you two are having a wonderful honeymoon" -- hard eight

The Insider was the first film that came to mind and this scene. https://bit.ly/3tAckLS

Grant Peterson

He was so fucking funny in that 2 min scene; Jerry broke character but Mr. Hall didn't, a true pro.

Eric M. Rhein

GREAT Vegas flick!

Eric M. Rhein

Gotta love how plain spoken they guys he played always are, especially when PTA is writing w/ him in mind. Love his work.

“I'm not a complicated man. I like cinema. In particular, I like to see people fucking on film. But, I don't want to win an Oscar and I don't want to re-invent the wheel. I like simple pleasures, like butter in my ass and lollipops in my mouth. That's just me. That's just something that I enjoy. Call me crazy, call me a pervert. But, there's one little thing that I'mg going to do in this life and that is I'm going to make a dollar and a cent in this business.” Floyd Gondolli-Boogie Nights No truer words spoken about the cinematic arts!

Adam if ur reading this Pharmabro martin shkreli got released from jail, im sure he would be down for Brets pod, dudes loaded with content on big pharma and their contradictions and how they made an example of him

the insider

Just recently watched Hard Eight for the first time - really good . . .

Seneca Garcia

The type of actor that when I saw he was in a movie, I knew it was going to be a good one.

FlyingWaffle

I always think of him as Sherwood Morrill in Fincher’s ZODIAC. Weirdly, he’s in another movie about the Zodiac killer called THE ZODIAC from 2005 as well.

Mickey Rock

I mostly remember Hall from TV! He was good.

Knokkel knokkel

Hi did more acting with his eyes than most actors can do with their entire bodies.

Nathan Stack

“Don’t use the phone in the Doctor’s office” Curb Your Enthusiasm

Shawn Kilroy

I like simple pleasures, like butter in my ass and lollipops in my mouth. That's just me. That's just something that I enjoy. Call me crazy, call me a pervert.

https://youtu.be/tIZ43V-3puc My favorite scene, also a PTA movie (Boogie Nights)

Michael Reith

Obviously Sydney, his other 2 Anderson films, Midnight Run, Secret Honor and of course his two episodes of Seinfeld. I think it's fair to say we've lost one of the best character actors.

Adam Fix

he had a great run and a lot of great performances but agreed with those who love Bookman. A machine gun volley of great lines delivered perfectly.

Mr. Bookman will never really die.

Normaling

Two other things that have always stayed with me from Hard Eight since first seeing at 15/16 - Gwyneth Paltrow’s greatest performance & Philip Seymour Hoffman has a three-minute cameo that burns a hole in the screen. Really just fantastic performances all round - truly one of the great American film debuts from PTA.

Paul Nolan

That diner scene in Hard 8, when you just know, this is going to be good. RIP.

Thomas Edwards

Still remember the first time I watched Hard Eight after I signed up for FilmStruck. He was captivating as Sydney. One of my favorite films to this day.

Aron Harris

Glad you chose a pic of Hard Eight - PBH in that film gives as good a cinematic performance as you’ll ever see.

Paul Nolan

Fantastic actor.

Mike

loved Hard Eight

MITCHELL SILVERMAN

This one really hurts for me. I grew up on midnight run, secret honour, hard Eight, boogie nights and magnolia (yeah I was an odd cinemad kid / teenager and still am). I loved Hall in everything he did even his bad movies were great just for his scenes
