A bit of input regarding polls

I'm seeing a bit of an issue with polls in that when I put up 3 options there's always 1 option that gets about 50% of the votes. It seems like there's always 1 option that will inevitably win right from the start, leaving the other 2 option pointless to vote for. I feel like this is unfair to the people wanting the 'pointless' options.
What are your thoughts on reducing the poll options down to 2 (starting in February), instead of 3? Any comments/input are welcome.

While I like having all three options, maybe doing a 'runners up' poll sometime of the most popular 2nd/3rd place options (So the smallest margins between 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd) as one of your pieces would make it so that voting for 2nd/3rd options still has the potential to get made, just later?
