Hey Patreon! πŸ‘‹πŸ» Happy Saturday! πŸ’›

This week I reacted to the Great Train Robbery - a massive heist famous in British culture that I had never heard of! I love it when that happens πŸš‚πŸ’° hope you like the video!

Super fun Patreon episode! I think Alanna should submit an application to Scotland Yard...πŸ‘πŸ€”

Yes πŸ˜€ I remember seeing him on his (large) flower stall under the railway bridge outside the station

The Brinks-Mat robbery is worth a look, a gang expecting Foreign Currency got Gold Bars. Rumoured that a lot of Canary Wharf was funded by some of the proceeds. It is theoretical to steal a whole train today, watch the `Nightsleeper' BBC TV series, computers can be infiltrated. Glad my laptop is back from the repair shop, didn't think I'd miss it but spent a fortune on taxis physically shopping.

Great video! It reminded me of when I emigrated to Sydney in 1970. I got a job in a 7-handed branch of a bank in a suburb. I replaced the Head Teller, but they, quite rightly made me work the inquiry counter first! Anyhow, it turned out the guy I replaced was recently convicted of armed robbery at a number of other branches of the bank, which he carried out in his lunch hour! The main reason he was caught was when he phoned in sick and Mr Gross, the manager went to see him to get some keys. He found 3 flash cars and a speedboat on his drive! Hmm...Funny? In Australia the tellers are armed with revolvers (I became one later!). You had to hide the gun but make it obvious you had one! Unfortunately, Mr Gross had some sort of a mental breakdown not long after I joined!

I thought you said that you hated trains?

Very interesting, thanks! One of my school friends had been brought up in Brazil and was in the same class as Ronnie Biggs’ son for a while, so was familiar with this story from an early age. There was a popular film in the late eighties with Phil Collins as Buster Edwards. Doesn’t hold up well now due to glamorising the robbers, but has some well known songs on it.

Great video - FYI Buster Edwards ended up running a flower stall at Waterloo station for quite a few years. He received a lot of publicity in 1988 when Phil Collins played him in the film Buster
