Added 2024-07-28 13:00:05 +0000 UTCThis month for our Book Club we read The Wager: a tale of shipwreck, mutiny and murder - I loved it so much! I don't remember the last time I read a historical non-fiction but the author did such a great job of turning fairly confusing/dry historical journals into something really thrilling and exciting. I zoomed through this and had a hard time putting it down. I'll definitely be going back and reading more from this author!
If you're looking for something exciting and full of British history - I'd give it a go!

August Book Club Pick
For August, we'll be reading A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. A little snippet about the author:
He wrote A Confederacy of Dunces in the early sixties and tried unsuccessfully to get the novel published; depressed, at least in part by his failure to place the book, he committed suicide in 1969. It was only through the tenacity of his mother that her son's book was eventually published and found the audience it deserved.
This is one of those "modern classics" that I always meant to read but never got around to it. So I'm excited to finally give it a go!
