In the "just actually" vein, bathrooms in the U.S. are required by code to be a specific type (ground fault circuit interrupter, GFCI) that protects against electrocution. That's part of the reason you see outlets in bathrooms in the U.S. but not the U.K. Also, I always felt that the Canadian culture was similar to the U.S. culture in Northern states, like Washington, New York, Maine, etc. I think it's notably more different from the culture in places like Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Anyway, great vid, thanks, enjoyed it!

Recent data from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission shows that, on average, there are more than 400 electrocutions in the United States each year. Of these, about 180 are related to consumer products. Of the approximate 180 related to consumer products, large appliances are responsible for 10 percent.

I have a shaver outlet in the bathroom, but it can also take an electric toothbrush which is handy!

Old enough to remember the nightmare of Purchase Tax, different rates for different products, a car had over 30% added to the list price, the reason that many bought a van and put seats in the back. No PT on commercial vehicles but add windows to the sides behind the driver and spend time dodging the tax man. Many a Mini Van had a rear seat conversion, mine included, the only problem was being restricted to commercial vehicle speed limits (50 on National limit or derestricted roads, rural or traffic coppers had nothing better to do).

The commercial breaks are WILD, I know my mum will NOT watch live TV because of them - just records stuff and so we can fast-forward lol

This Patreon video was excellent. Felt like we were all just sitting around the kitchen table and talking while enjoying a hot beverage...

What winds me up about "Septics" (Cockney rhyming slang: Septic tank: Yank)? Many, many things! I've been numerous times to the US and Canada (Vancouver), marshalling car races. This entails spending maybe 3 days with natives. In no particular order: "I could care less!" I must've spend hours trying explain that they were saying they DID care about... Next, The date! Just about the rest of the galaxy writes it day, month, year...except the septics! Except their Independence Day "Fourth of July!" Go figure! The temperature: Once again, everyone else uses Centigrade/Celsius. We used Fahrenheit (thanks spellchecker!) years ago, but C is so much easier! Jaywalking: Over here, if you want to get anywhere you just have to cross the road where you can, not search for a crossing! (Driving sidebar: Turning right on a red light. Brilliant idea, only it would be left in the UK). About stuff you mentioned, the price including VAT/Sales Tax is relatively new here. When VAT (replacing Purchase Tax) came in, the tax was added at the till but not for long! I think i need a lie down now!

One my one trip to the USA, many years ago, I was struck by the number of ad breaks (at least one half hour show had about 5 of them, including before and after the credits) and the scale of some of them (I spent an incredulous half hour watching someone make stains on things, then wash them out again to rapturous applause from the studio audience). On the car driving front, I did a fair bit of walking in the outskirts of Maryland (little to no pavement) and often when I crossed over the roads leading out of shopping area car parks drivers waiting to exit onto the main road would back away from me, like I was some sort of crazy person.
