My wish list for Christmas dinner is pretty similar. Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, dinner rolls maybe green beans and/or carrots/peas, and I'm happy :-) Now... if my brother (a butcher by trade) was hosting, he'd substitute prime rib for the Turkey, which was actually a nice switch up. Fun video Alanna. x

My mum always buys a tin of Quality Streets because that is what my grandma would buy. So I might be in the minority of liking them🤣. Turkey, stuffing, mash, gravy, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, a variety of side veg and salads (green, pasta, coleslaw). Keep in mind this is dinner for like 20+ people. For dessert: variety of home baking and pies. When I was growing up, my parents had nuts out and we got to crack them open which I always thought was exciting.

We can't all like the same things, can we, Alanna? I absolutely LOVE parsnips, though I usually boil mine - and brussels sprouts are an absolute MUST for Christmas dinner - though I will acknowledge that some people just cannot enjoy their taste because of a genetic deficiency. Nuts, too, have always been an essential side-snack for us at Christmas time growing up. We used to have a family saying: "Roll on Christmas - let's have some nuts!" Mince pies, too, are lovely if you get a decent brand (some can be less than nice, admittedly) and Christmas pudding - with cream or custard on it - has always been a traditional sweet to follow our main Christmas dinner - I genuinely feel sad that you are unable to enjoy and appreciate this luxurious pudding - so staple to a good, British, Christmas Day nosh-up!

Where I'm from Christmas dinner means home made tamales, Probably a little hard to find in the UK!

The Elite things look a lot like Jos Louis cakes made by Vachon https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/84/Jos_Louis.jpg

Pretty much spot on. .Would have moved the gravy up one ..Top line a Christmas dinner in its self. .Thanks for the vid .

Nah, don’t like Irish cream 🤢

The first one you could not identify was a Dundee Cake, a rich fruit cake with Almonds in it and on it. The last one, the sticks, looked like Bratwurst, Christmas Markets without a German Sausage or two, sacrilege. US Pigs in Blankets look just like Sausage rolls made with a whole Cocktail Sausage. I'm now knackered having just put away the Christmas grocery order, the wine fridges are now full, had to ditch a couple of bottles that have been in there for a couple of years, opened one up the other night and it had turned to vinegar. Many modern wines are made to be drunk young and drunk within 2 years of bottling, the date of bottling should be included on the label, everything else is. Incorrect storage and handling during transit doesn't help them. Before screw top bottles, wine was packed in the case upside down and experienced handlers would always stack cases on their side just in case they were not packed that way. That ensured that there was no chance of the cork drying out and letting air in. The Red Wine fridge is set to 11C, cellar temperature. The White and Sparkling one at 8C, a deep cold cellar or a damp cave.

Oooh I like the sound of a cheese straw!! I wonder if I can find some...

Adventures and Naps

omg Jamie 😂

Ooh yay thank you so much! 🙏🏻 Hope you have a great day at work!

Adventures and Naps

Ahh totally forgot about bread sauce - I remember making that one year! 😂

Some people like the stuffing in a bowl or tin and spooned onto the plate or just the stuffing from the neck end of the bird, never stuff the cavity, it won't cook properly. No one want's Salmonella at Christmas.

Tony S

The stick things were Cheese Straws, and the jacobs elite are I believe chocolate biscuits. Brussel Sprouts should be made illegal and deported back to Belgium.

For me I hate pigs in blankets, cranberry ( I only use mint sauce) also I HATE Christmas cake! I’m more a pudding person

Si Winstanley

Hey Alana I’m back. Appologies for being away so long x

Si Winstanley

I'll take your parsnips & prawns & you can have my Ferrero, Baileys & sprouts lol I agree with some of what you've said. Some of these things feel really random though, at least I'd never have them at Christmas lol

Great video, I mostly agree except Quality Street are the worst chocolate tub and I'm pretty sure Alanna said that in a previous video 🤢, I also love orange chocolate, I'm literally eating Cadbury's Orange chocolate fingers while watching this video and there's nothing you can do to stop me.... December is a lawless time. 😂

Will

The North American pigs in blanket look like they belong in a porno!

I love Christmas dinner so much lol, I think my favourite part is roast potatoes, but I like the ham that my mum cooks too! I’m at work now but I think my family is putting up our Christmas tree today, so when I get home from work I’ll send a picture of our Christmas tree!

Aaron Conway

How can there be a list of Christmas food without stuffing balls and bread sauce. Even though bread sauce is trash
