I know what you mean when you say you just know your home, but can't quite work out why. Its like when I see geoguesser, and I see the UK, I'm only looking at a field and a wall and a nondescript stretch of road, but I know its the UK

My Village was famous for it's Walnuts, mildly interesting.

Very interesting, a few I heard before, but a lot of new stuff. Think I will keep away from Manitoba in snake season, haha. Agree that Quebec City is a lovely place to visit. I went there to get my visa renewed when I was living in the US. As I was living close to the border, really enjoyed taking several trips to Canada, mainly to Quebec. Also enjoyed going to Vancouver for a week's conference. Haven't been to Canada since the mid 2000s though, so would love to go back one day.

Was expecting a 12 minute rant about air conditioning!

Interesting facts about Canada . Thanks for sharing them with us !

Great video - Canada is a very interesting and (to me) strange place - so big yet so few people. So much nature yet so little TV about it. We need to know more!

Mark J

There is an observatory in Churchill that has live webcams and occasionally you can see a polar bear. They are really there to watch the Aurora.

Adam Clark

Garter snakes I think are one of the least dangerous varieties of snakes.

Brett Carruthers

I didn't know that about Manitoba. Although garter snakes aren't dangerous. I would say Australia still has the most poisonous animals in the world.

Brett Carruthers

Quebec City is very cool. Parts of Old Montreal also have a bit of that European feel - I don't remember if there are cobblestones. I remember being on Georgian Bay at my friend's cottage and her parents were like watch out for rattlesnakes😲 . Canada is large and beautiful. It is expensive to travel across the country. It's not much cheaper for me to fly to Vancouver vs. to fly into London.

Great video, I'm kinda with Gem on the whole visiting Manitoba thing... Although i'd be interested to know how many of those 70000 snakes are dangerous. I kinda know what you mean about the smell of a place. Canada has a smell that reminds me of childhood holidays, (That sentence got a bit Guns 'n' Roses) I can't really pinpoint it, but its kinda a mix between coffee, Air-Con and that weird dried eucalyptus that lots of Canadians seem to have in their houses... 😂 I've heard non-Brits say that the UK smells of sour milk when they arrive and I did notice it once when returning... 😂

Including the islands Norway has a coastline of 100,915km Although there is mathematical "paradox" that the length of a coastline will increase with the accuracy of measurement

Simon

According to the Ordinance Survey the UK has a coastline of 31,368 km, including all Islands. Their calculation is that anywhere that has a tidal range, even if only a few inches is coastline, so London is a coastal city and the coast extends up the Thames to Teddington, Surrey. I believe the Admiralty use the same method when drawing Maritime Charts.

Hi, Alanna, I really enjoyed that, I love your Canada stories. It was really enjoyable, just 2 questions , Have you ever met a polar bear? and 2 where are the racoons we could have a whole video on them.

Stephen Parker

Great Patreon episode! I think your YouTube subscribers would enjoy these facts about Canada. Perhaps the Butler and yourself could one day visit The Canadian National Vimy Memorial...🇨🇦

Don't think I'll be travelling to Canada anytime soon, longhaul days are well past, only go to places one can drive to or get a train/ferry to as driving is no longer fun. Definitely wouldn't go to Manitoba as have a phobia about snakes, bitten twice by Adders as a child. They were quite common in the South then. Glad I now live in a country that has no legless creatures other than Earthworms, Snails, Slugs or locals on a Friday/Saturday night.

Tony S

Yay Canada content! Love learning about Canada :) Hope you have a wonderful weekend x ps: I love "everything is where I left it"

Iain Chase

Thanks Alanna, that was a fantastic choice. I love Canada - and who knew that I'd have clocked up more time than you in Manitoba and Alberta (ask me anything, I'm almost a local😂🤣...OK it was squeezed into a few weeks actually) as well as both East and West Coasts. Thank you so much for cheering me up after an awful week...I'm typing this (slowly!) with my three usable fingers after a bit of an accident has left me with broken bones in my hand and no skin on my knuckles!! (ouch!)

Malcolm Lawrence

Thanks Alanna. .Relaxing vid ..Have a good and peaceful day.

Mark Walsh

The guy who designed the Norwegian coastline won an award I believe.

Stuart Summers

Loved the interesting factoids about Canada, I'm sure there are many more, so maybe this could be a regular feature. My kids were obsessed with the "Ontario Sucks" song ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_OHZDihc9w ) at one point, so your video is a good repost! Thanks as always for the fun start to Saturday! Have a good weekend.

Stuart Summers

That was so cool! I love hearing about Canada, thanks so much for making a video about it! For weekend plans my family and I are going to Belfast to see my sister tomorrow! Sorry you had a hard week, I hope you have a great week this week!

Aaron Conway

Most surprising thing is the country with the second longest coastline Norway

Simon

Never going to Manitoba… ever! Even though polar bears are cool… no, no, NO! Been years since I went to Canada, always said I’d go back, in summertime (went in winter before 🥶), haven’t managed it yet… one day 🤞
