This month I read The Suspicions of Mr Whicher or The Murder At Road Hill House (you can buy it here if you want to read it, too!)
When I first started this, I thought: Oh honey, this is HARD! I was close to giving up, but instead decided to read it during the afternoon rather than right before bed when I was tired.
Overall it's a really cool book! I've not read one like this before - documenting a real murder from 1860 and how it changed British culture. It's really neat that it would be talking about the crime, but also how it impacted life in the UK and subsequent changes to history and British life because of this murder. Very interesting!
It can be very information-heavy, especially at the beginning when it tells you every character and their life history lol but if you can get through it, it gets a lot easier!
If you're interested in a true crime historical novel, with lots of historical context to life in the UK, I would definitely recommend it! I have a lot of thoughts about the murder but don't want to spoil it!!!
Cheers to Ian for sending the book to the PO Box - really appreciate it!
Did anyone read this one? What are your thoughts?
