Alanna the booktuber lol. I know you're not really into graphic novels and comics but I think you might enjoy Scott Pilgrim vs the World if you haven't read/watched it. It's set in Toronto by Ontario author Bryan Lee O'Malley.

Slaughter House 5 would be the oldest - published in 1969.

I usually try to set aside 10 mins a day or so to read - that typically ends up lasting longer but it's a lot nicer than looking at my phone!

What struck me is that this is a very 21st century reading list. What's the oldest book in here, Trainspotting? If you are up for a romantic novel with some age, maybe take a chance on Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak.

The first time I read Trainspotting I just looked at the first page thinking What are they actually saying? Then it clicked it was written the same way I speak and I just flew through the book after that. Although West of Scotland me did find some Edinburgh phrases in the book that weren't the same way I'd speak. Thanks for the reviews - there's a couple more books on there to add to my list

We liked the format of read with Alanna. Some of the selection are dark and if you suffer from anxiety these can't help..The last book in the book club "In the darkness " Beverley has said that at times she's almost put it down and stopped because it was getting very harrowing and she couldn't see how it was going to end well. She has nearly finished it but has been a tough one..

Where do you find the time, my day is 24hrs, just under a third spent in the land of nod. You are making videos and jointly running an online business. Time must be very scarce for you to fit in books unless reading whilst travelling, something I try to do on a train or being driven, the view out of the window often wins out if on a journey not done for a long while or a new one.

Great video, I genuinely thought you were going to say "Welcome to Alanna's reading nook" at the beginning 😂. I think I've enjoyed most of the book club books so far this year. Also, TFW the third Kingslayer book probably won't get released in my lifetime.... 😭

Hi, Alanna, very interesting, the location of you sitting to one side of the bookcase works really well.

I get times when I'm not sure where the inspiration for the next book to read will come from - often it ends up with a trip to my nearest Waterstone's to trawl the shelves, so it makes a nice change to have a few ideas from another source - thank you!
By the way, I can thoroughly endorse "The Alice Network" which is the best book I've read this year (so far!).

I think you need to do a podcast where you read books that are typed like they are spoken 😂
I’ve got so many books waiting to be read & this has just added to that list!
Been finding it difficult to get into anything atm. I’ve just started a book called Hex, bit slow to start but I’ll see how it goes.
P.s. Loved the secret history!

This was really cool! Thank you for doing this! I added a lot of these to my Goodreads "want to read list"! I really want to start reading more, but I never know what to read! So, thank you so much for showing your books!
