I miss Yorkshire tea, can't get it near me

EvilHedgehogs

Just in case... https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=8cipMoGKXGE

I'm sure there was a "British Shop" in my hometown but would need to do a road trip to investigate. Getting my groceries at Loblaws today, they also had Yorkshire and Yorkshire Gold in the coffee/tea aisle. Nothing in the international aisle but there were 4 brands of Indian tea. I also found this which isn't too far away from me: https://www.simplybritishfoods.com/index.html

Think you've got enough there from Yorkshire Tea to last you a while though - even with my habit, that'd last me a couple of months 😂

David Powell

Milk in tea is pretty common, that's how I prefer it! Not too much, though.

Adventures and Naps

I've collected so many mugs over the years 😂

Adventures and Naps

Steven, that's so awesome!! Glad you found something new to enjoy!!

Adventures and Naps

Those sound really cool!! I'd add them to my list to try :)

One does not just simply drink Yorkshire Tea, you need a sword in hand and shout "Do it for Yorkshire!".

Garry Mothinabox

I feel you pain! I had to drink decaf for a while too. Yorkshire was one of the best I found, Cafédirect's decaf is also nice and distinctive, but it needs a long brew. I think Sainsbury's own decaf wasn't bad either as a budget option.

David Powell

Eh up duck (a traditional Yorkshire greeting, just in case you're confused!). I've tried all of those apart from the jam and toast one. The biscuit one was nice, but, like you, I found it too sweet to drink a whole cup. Gold I found to taste similar to the regular blend, but not as strong. I've tried around 30 different supermarket teabags, and many more lose leaf teas. I really enjoy trying different teas, especially loose leaf teas. I tend to drink them with skimmed milk as I find that full fat or semi masks their flavour. My go tos are: Yorkshire Tea, Thompson's Tea's Punjana or Irish Breakfast, Cafédirect everyday tea. If you want to taste a really different tea, then Pukka's elegant English breakfast tea, which contains Vietnamese tea, is a really distinctive breakfast tea.

David Powell

When I travelled in the UK I was used to being asked "black or white?" when ordering a cup. As an American I find it easier to appreciate the subtle differences in tea without milk. Trying to learn more about tea I am beginning to appreciate the many varieties.

I have fortnightly skype sessions with a therapist. Started last January 2019, good thing i did as i think this lockdown would have been harder. But hope both of you are doing ok :)

Peter Bradbury

I don't know anyone that doesn't put milk in their tea personally. Unless it is herbal tea, but I don't count that as real tea.

Peter Bradbury

Does everyone use milk in their tea? For me it mutes the flavor of the actual tea so it would be more difficult to tell them apart. I think Asians have the right idea to drink their tea straight! Yes, I would love to see Aberdeen or anywhere else at the outer limits of the UK. There's a famous statue of a dog there if I remember correctly.

William Seabrook

That was fun .So the toast and jam now that is weird ..But like the sound of the biscuit..Tea and a snowy day and a cream egg .What else is better..Thanks again stay warm stay safe and you and himself have a good weekend.

Everyone's tastes are different even with different foods. My mom can't eat things with freshly ground black pepper because it's too hot, but has no problem with the preground or even cooked hot peppers. My friend's wife is extremely sensitive to bitter. Here in the USA with our iced tea, she can't drink it if it's not freshly brewed because of that. I was trying to learn about teas and that's when I found Yorkshire Gold. I haven't tried their red label or any others. I think my favorite tea to drink is one called Dragon Eye Oolong by the Revolution Tea. It smells so nice, but it isn't just tea leaves. The pouch is sealed and when I open it, it reminds me of the old pipe shops with all the flavored tobaccos and old leather books. I also love the smell of Earl Grey and Lady Earl Grey blends. On a separate subject, we're getting Canadian weather here right now, -23C by Sunday night and possibly 16" of snow by Monday evening. We usually get cold in my part of Texas, but not as much snow as Canada. The wind chill is -40C so I'm going to be drinking tea by the gallon for the next 5-10 days.

The Raven

I'd never tried Yorkshire Tea, but after seeing your original video, Alanna, I wanted to try it - but I have to have decaff and couldn't find any - UNTIL TODAY! I got a box of Yorkshire Decaff Tea from Tesco, and I have to say it really is rather good! I always make a pot of tea (2 teabags will make five mugs), so I got more of the flavour - which is noticably better than the Tesco's own decaff brand I always got before! So, in that small way, you've changed my life - Thank You!

Steven Parkes

Not being a big tea drinker, I was more interested in your mug collection! That being said, I would like to try the Biscuit Brew.

Claire Morash

Nice duck. Or is that technically a mallard? Is there a difference? If i had any desire to be a social media figure, it would be solely to get free stuff sent to me. I envy people I follow that get lots of cool stuff.

Therapy on WhatsApp! Bless technology, that's such a good idea

Adventures and Naps

Nice! Not sure if you have a local "British shop" but they would definitely have different types, too.

Adventures and Naps

Happy Saturday Alanna. I still have a mostly full box of Red Rose sitting in my cupboard and I can definitely relate to the lack of cupboard space. At my local Metro they have Yorkshire, Yorkshire Gold and Barry's Tea from Ireland. I may have to check Loblaws or Longos to see what they have and report back.

Andrew8468

My tea knowledge is seriously lacking - who knew about the malty biscuit flavour, not me?! I blame my local Sainsbury's for not stocking it and leaving a vast gap in my knowledge. Now when you get to Cadbury's mini-eggs though I'm an expert and every year as soon as they appear in the shops I'm there buying family bags (while stocks last) or a couple of the standard bags every time I shop - forget the bigger Easter eggs, mini-eggs are the ones for me. Thanks for another great video Alanna, stay positive and healthy!!

Malcolm Lawrence

Thank you for the video, I don’t think I would be able to tell the difference between the teas and to be honest toast and jam tea sounds pretty horrible. I’m sorry you’re struggling right now, you’re not alone but I’m sure that doesn’t really help. I’m having weekly therapy over WhatsApp which helps me a lot with my mental health. I hope you and your family are staying healthy

Sarah Hogg

As a person from the Red Rose County (Lancashire) our family has Yorkshire Tea and is the best tea around in truth. As mentioned above, I love "Builder's Tea" so different ways of having tea is a good shout. Hope yourself Alanna and everyone here is keeping well, as things are really hard and if you battle mental health like myself then it can feel worse. But hopefully, we'll all be outgoing beavers again soon : )

Peter Bradbury

I like the duck mug. I realise it means extra expense but have you thought of using a teapot and loose tea. Teabags are fine but i find the longer brewing time of leaf tea gives a richer and more complex flavour. Assam and Darjeeling are my favourites. I've put the kettle on. 😁

Stephen Wadkin

And did you enjoy it?

Andrew J Baker

I had to google „beach“. According to Wikipedia a beach is a landform alongside a body of water which consists of loose particles. Apparently it is inhabited by a species called The Beach Boys and Leonardo DiCaprio. And it is sunset all day long. I would like to see that! Am I going insane?

Holger Steinwedel

I want to know what clan Alanna is a member of. And I want someone to get the sleeper train from London on my behalf.

David O

This tasting session would be lost on me as i have no sense of taste or smell from the covid bout i have had. When i do have the occasional tea it has to be Lapsang, i love the smoky flavour. It would be interesting to go with you on a trip to Aberdeen. Maybe you should do some digging to see if you have some relatives up there, not to film but for your own interest.

Adam Clark

I actually had tea at Betty's!!

Adventures and Naps

😂☕️

Adventures and Naps

Lovely video. You can discuss tea as much and as often as you like. To get the full effect you'll need to make it in proper, warmed tea pot, ideally with filtered water (mainly to remove the chlorine). Even then, you'll probably need to be calm, happy, unrushed to get the full subtle effect. "Builders Tea" has its place in life too. For the very best in Yorkshire Tea, Betty's in Harrogate, with all the lovely cakes and sandwiches too. Then you can get supper at the Original Harry Ramsdens (in Guiseley on the way home. They do pretty good tea too.

Andrew J Baker

Excellent! Always drunk Yorkshire tea and now I know I don't have to spring for the Gold! Fantastic!

Mark J

If only 😂

Adventures and Naps

Fascinating!! I had no idea

Adventures and Naps

Thank you Aaron!! Happy Saturday!

No suprise Yorkshire Tea won out. Your taste buds will never steer you wrong...

Steve Mikre

Nice bonus to get so freebies from the Yorkshire Tea folk following your last tea video. Hint for next video, find a car-park somewhere and compare the looks of Porsches vs Mercedes vs BMWs.... you never know 😄 As always, your Saturday video is a great way to start the weekend. Hang in there, better times are coming!

Stuart Summers

When it comes to tea leaf there are 3 types rated brown, red, and gold. Brown is your bog standard leaf that you'll find in budget teas, probably some of the supermarket own brands too. Red is your typical leaf that you will find most well known brands. Gold is then your top end leaf. Generally you'll find the gold leaf teas to be strong in taste assuming you let it brew for a good amount of time. The colour name also comes from the colour you see as you add milk apparently. The leaf types and how and where they are grown. But you can Google that, I ain't here to teach. 😝

Mohegan13

Great video!! Hope you have a nice weekend! Also, thank you so much for making your videos! They've really been helping me in lockdown! They're a really nice thing to look forward to! They're always so funny! Thank you for making them, I really appreciate it :)

Aaron Conway

Snap, been so unmotivated this week, definitely been playing more video games then learning! 😬 Great video, my problem with tea is it’s not sweet enough, so I don’t drink it... I’ll have to give the biscuit one a try. My family might go into shock if I start drinking tea tho 😂 Keep dreaming of that holiday! 🏖
