Want to see Chicago?

Now that Patreon lets you post multiple pictures in one post (finally!) here's a look at my family's trip to Chicago! Shocking that it was over 10 years ago....

Some highlights of Chicago:

- Definitely do the Skydeck at Willis Tower (the glass box) - it was so neat! And scary!

- My mum found the BEST breakfast place that we went to every morning

- I didn't realise that there's so many rivers and canals throughout Chicago! We did a water tour through the city that gave a really neat perspective to the city

- Lots of museums to see! I think we spent a few hours of the Natural History Museum

- Even went to a Yankees game and then watched fireworks on the Chicago pier

Chicago reminded me a lot of New York City but less in your face, a but more unassuming and underestimated. A really lovely trip! Has anyone else been?

Very cool! I loved our trip there - perfect weather, too!

I miss Chicago. My 1st and only trip over the pond. Saw the portions and my eyes widened at the sizes!! I did Skydeck for like 0.5 seconds and felt instantly tense and had to come off the glass. Great view of the city and Lake Michigan. Fun times were going Dicks' last resort, plus seeing a Cubs game and Blackhawks game. Love to to go back again.

Funny isn't it? I'm just the same with some of the UK landmarks.

Surprisingly, I've never done the CN Tower! I guess it's one of those things that locals rarely do but the tourists all have!

I was not a permanent resident and you know how it is to live somewhere on a working visa that needs renewing every 5 years! So when I got offered a job in Vienna I moved here. Expat life in the EU is much easier, if you’re a EU citizens at least.

I've not done Chicago but the glass bit looks very similar to the CN Tower in Toronto, which I'm sure you'll have tried. Are they both as scary as each other? Closer to home the Geieranger Skywalk in Norway is pretty scary/exhilarating (when travel is allowed!) - it's a platform hanging off the side of one of Norway's highest peaks.

How come you moved away?

The weather was great!! I think it would have been July or August.

Wow, not sure I could stay on that glass for too long, scary. Does look amazing though.

I’m getting a little homesick! I used to live in Chicago. Never had the guts to step on the Skydeck at Sears Tower (you know one those platforms cracked!). I loved it there, great architecture, museums, theaters, amazing food and nice people, if they don’t shoot you! 😉 But comparing it to New York is a bit controversial, New York and Chicago can’t really agree on anything, pizza, hot dogs, who has the highest building,... So you had breakfast at Billy Goats and saw a White Sox game? That’s the wrong team! The curse of the Billy Goat was on the Chicago Cubs! And Wrigley Field is much nicer! 😊

The skydeck looks amazing! Looks like you had great weather during your trip. Thanks for sharing...
