November Book Club REVIEW

I'm only a few pages away from finishing November's Book Club choice - Circe (you can buy it here if you want)! I know a lot of people read it this month (or had already read it) - so, without too many spoilers, how did you guys like it? What's your rating out of 5?

When I first started Circe, I thought: "Oh honey, what have you done. This is going to be terrible." But I was so wrong!

While the first part of the book was a bit hard for me to get into, once I got hooked, I got hooked. Even though the story is about a goddess, titans, Olympians, Greeks and tragedy, there is SO much to be learned from this book. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad that I gave it a shot (cheers to whoever recommended it!) A solid 4/5 from me!

I haven't decided on a December book just yet, but we'll let you guys know if I choose one. Overall, I'm really happy to Circe and hope to finish it in a few days!

Yeah I'm glad I stuck with it - very enjoyable after that first bit!

It was my cottage read this past summer. I really liked it. I agree with you, it took a bit to get into it and then it was sooooooooo goooooooooood.

It's not christmassy but it deals with ocd and mental health so it could be relevant to some people's experience in lockdown right now.

Brett Carruthers

Possibly, haven't read that one yet!

Adventures and Naps

You're absolutely right - I really liked how everything ties together.

How about John Green's Turtles All The Way Down for December?

I loved this book! Always liked mythology but what you often find is that they’re told from a male view point. Women are often seen as evil, temptresses & you never really see the other side or how they get there. This book gives you both & while she’s not always the best person, she’s literally been to hell & back! I had a real affinity for this story, 5/5 for me 👍

I finished Circe on Sunday, if you like Greek mythology this is the book for you. It weaves classic stories together, giving you a better understanding of how the events came about. And just how vindictive Greek gods could be. Beverley.
