I had contacts when I worked as a motorcycle courier. They gave me so much more freedom, mainly in the rain. But. I got an ulcer under my contact in my left (dominant) eye and I was blind in that eye for a week. My optician Sent me Tout sweet to the eye clinic at the hospital. I had loads of drops to put in hourly almost. After a week I could make out shapes. The eye doctor said it was due to the contacts. I almost lost my eye, let alone the sight in it. The cornea is pitted and uneven now so I stick to glasses, thank you very much! Keep being 4 eyes! It's part of you!

I thought the second pair looked best. They were simple, but had a fashionable look and vibe saying you do your shopping on Oxford Street (London) "where the elite meet"...๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Steve Mikre

Pair 1, 4, 3, 2. in that order.

Arthur Gatward

H we just watched the vid .The glasses are great that you can try before you buy.The last pair were a bit Harry Potter as you said ..The Apple watch if that's what you want then why not ..You can't take it with you ..The colour of the strap is a bit unusual but if that your colour ..Also your wrists are very small.Great vid . Trying to come with new ideas must be difficult .You seem to do though .Have a great weekend you and the Butler..Beverley nearly finished the October book .So she will give her verdict..

Welcome to Alanna's Awkward Unboxings. Do people actually match their outfits with their watch?

Brett Carruthers

Alanna, when i get new glasses I always get the anti-reflective coating, might be useful for your videos. I could barely tell there were lenses present as they had no reflections. I used contacts for a year a while back, but found they made my eyes water and get itchy with any air breeze around, in and out was fine but if there was a single spec of dust on them the pain was horrendous and they would be removed and refitted immediately. I enjoyed the vid ๐Ÿ‘Œ

My specs are wider and thinner with a definite frame - I've got a very round face and so round specs just add to the Billy Bunter look, but you've got a regulation sized head so can get away with rounder frames. I actually thought all of your trial pairs were pretty decent but 1 & 2 definitely suit you better (like I'm suddenly an authority on glasses!!). I'd leave 4 alone but I actually thought that pair 3 looked good for an alternative if you were feeling daring. My spare pair have green frames and are much squarer and once in a while it's good to change things around...so long as nobody I know sees me of course!

I used to wear daily soft contact lenses for doing sport and they the ok, they were comfortable and very clear. I never had a problem with them moving about when they were in, they were great for wearing with swimming goggles so I could actually see in the pool. The problem I had was putting them in, I could never get used to this, I hated touching my eyes. Probably sounds silly but it put me off wearing them. But if you do decide to wear them I would recommend daily soft lenses as apposed to the rigid gas permeable ones. Check out lenstore.co.uk

I wear round, silver-metal frames myself (albeit smaller than those), so I'm biased towards number 4 and agree with Sven's comments about them being great working glasses for around the office or lazing around the house. Otherwise, I also like the first pair, which are a clear version of your current ones and you're dead right saying that you "find a shape that suits your face and stick with them" - there's nothing wrong with that at all! At the end of the day - it's YOUR choice, Alanna!

Steven Parkes

Voluntarily poking things into your eyes? No bloody way! I don't like having to wear glasses but it is so much better than the alternatives. I also liked the first pair.

Adam Clark

I'm going to go, 1. 4, 2 then 3. The first being clear framed and showed more of you than you with glasses frames in front. The last pair looked like great working glasses for around the office or lazing around the house. The purple ones were more sixties U.S. librarian than just librarian and the matt black looked a little too prominent and in a way like someone used black boot polish around some binocular lenses and then said, 'hey, look over there!', and left boot polish circles around the eyes. The clear ones are more neutral too in that they'll go with different colours and/or styles of outfit or occasion.

I have to say my experience was without problems, it stung quite a bit straight afterwards, definitely eye watering, but you're encouraged to sleep straight afterwards and after a 'nap' I was fine and it was a complete revelation. Unfortunately the girl who had it done just before me didn't have such a successful experience, came in for the check up the following day in sunglasses being guided by her mum ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜Ž. But I believe the success rate is a bit better than my anecdotal evidence of 50% ๐Ÿ˜‚

The brand name FUCNEN sounds a little rude ๐Ÿ˜‚

I preferred the last pair of glasses - I was getting more of a 60s hippy chick vibe off them, than schoolboy/nonce.

After watching Minority Report, I can't even contemplate eye surgery! Plus a co-worker had it and it made his eyes much more sensitive to light, so he would have to wear sunglasses outside and he ended up looking like Arnie in Terminator!

David Powell

Of those glasses, from best to worse 1, 4, 2, 3. Glasses that are less tall (top to bottom) look less Harry Potter/librarian-ish IMO. I switched to using contacts about 20 years ago, and I wouldn't go back to glasses. Big advantages are no rain droplets, no fogging up, no curvature when looking sideways and about a 10% image enlargement (as the lens is closer to your eye). Price wise monthly disposables work out the cheapest, but daily disposables cut out the faff of cleaning fluids. I use a mix of the two as dailies are very handy when going on holiday. If you do get contacts, you will still need glasses for the beginning/end of the day, and also as a backup for driving (should you have to remove them for any reason). Opticians like Specsavers do very good deals on glasses for those on their direct debit contact lens scheme.

David Powell

I used to wear contacts but onlt stopped because I ended up with a stack of cleansing solution ,lol. Don`t worry about getting stuck in your eye ,it will not happen and they are so comfortable to wear.

I never even though about the shape of my eyeball!! Good point

โ€œApple has nice packaging... how do I get it out.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Fortunately for me my brother is a slave of Apples & has to buy everything they ever make, so I got his old watch... I loved using mine but then I stopped leaving the house in April & shortly after stopped using it cos Iโ€™m very lazy! ๐Ÿ˜‹ Glasses no.1 are my fav, although personally Iโ€™d go for all plastic frames, metal ones hurt my ears lol. No.4 looks like something my grandad would wear ๐Ÿ˜‚

David

First ones, but what do I know :about fashion ๐Ÿ˜‰

I had laser eye surgery 7 years ago, cost an arm and a leg but was still the best decision. Judging by the distance away you were holding the mirror I was actually a bit more blind than you. Life changing ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿง I like the second pair you tried on, the third set are a bit Where's Wally ๐Ÿ™ˆ. I think the fourth set are more librarian vibe..

This worked for me: (check saddle size) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073D3CXF3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title
