Sept Book Club Review! (Surprise: it's good!!)
Added 2020-09-27 15:00:03 +0000 UTCThis month I read The Girl With All the Gifts (you can buy it via the link on Amazon). I really enjoyed it!
Like I've talked about before, it's easy to read and really easy to get into. After struggling through the first few chapters of Paradise Lost, I was grateful for something simple!!
While classified as a "thriller/horror" I don't think it's scary and that shouldn't put you off from reading it! I thought the story was interesting and explained the world in a really straightforward way. Overall, I enjoyed it!! I haven't seen the movie, but maybe I'll add that to my Spooky Month queue.
Has anyone else read it? What were your thoughts?

you definitely should watch the movie, it is interesting to compare the cast and plot decisions, and if you like the book you are highly likely to like the movie

2020-09-28 08:20:09 +0000 UTCI read this when it was first published so my recollection might be a little sketchy, but I definitely enjoyed it and found the variations on what might have seemed a pretty familiar main theme kept me interested all the way through. There was enough to keep me wanting more and I got through it at a fast pace which is usually a good sign for me! I saw the movie too and it manages to stay reasonably true to the book but I won't say more in case you decide to see it.

2020-09-27 15:08:08 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed this book. It is an easy read but I thought the underlying message was profound. I must be getting soft in my old age because there were sections that made me cry!
