Being silly at the dive bar

Yes. It's true. That's me at 12 in a dive bar in Florida, rocking those braces. Growing up was a very weird (and often hilarious) time.

This was our favourite local bar near our home in Florida - We often went with another family who had a daughter around my age (the other girl in the photo). Yes, my parents bought me to a dive bar when I was growing up...

My Dad thought it would be funny to take our photo with whatever this thing was - a werewolf? Why is it in a dive bar in Florida? Why does he have a serving tray?

Then of course he wanted a photo giving his beer to said werewolf. Life is strange and wonderful.

Billy Connolly says: 'Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cozy, doesn't try it on.' i.e. it would be a stranger fella that DIDN'T try to give Beerwolf a drink.

Great photo! that must be a Werebear :)

That thing is terrifying

Why does a pantsless Beerwolf need a belt? This is not a riddle, I'm genuinely curious.

Great question! There's nothing quite like a good dive bar in the US. It's basically like a UK pub but dirty, sports-oriented, great chicken wings.. I remember our favourite had the waitress dressed in skin-tight referee uniforms (think Hooters but not quite)... ah, life was simple.

We lived right by the US border in Manitoba so sometimes we would go for dinner at a dive bar in North Dakota called Jack's Bar. They had decent food. I usually had (and still have) the same sort of awkward attempted smile when I had to be in pictures.

My grandpa took me to the bar when I was a kid and even let me have a sip of his beer. And everything turned out fi…… Okay, maybe that is not a great example. But you look very happy and you turned out great!

Good times.

My Dad took me to "Dive Bars" in Pittsburg back when Pittsburgh was a depressing steel town.

My dad took me to the bar when I was small enough to stand on the pool table to shoot pool. I'm from Texas, but it was a thing at one time. Probably not allowed today unless you know the owner personally. I always had a blast and was a big kid because I could have a Root Beer. 🤣

Well that has to be the most disturbing werewolf I've ever seen. His belt buckle says beerwolf, i see what they did there. I'm surprised you were allowed into a dive bar at that age Alanna, seeing as how they're so strict about age limits in the states. I'm curious as to what a dive bar actually is. Is there a UK equivalent? Great picture, looks like a lot of fun was being had. 😊

Great Memory! He's a friendly Werewolf ready to serve a cold brew on a hot Florida day (21 and older of course). Thanks for Sharing...❤
