My first dog!

Most people know that I'm a crazy dog lady (if you didn't know, now you do). I don't have my own dog right now because frankly:

1. I don't have the money

2. I don't have the time

3. I'm also now living out of my parents' guest bedroom with no end in sight

But this beautiful baby was my first dog, Sydney. Get it? Because she was an Australian Cattle Dog? So creative. We got her when I was about 3 years old and she was sadly put to sleep when I was about 14. We were pretty good friends by then.

She was so wonderful and my first introduction to doggos! I remember she would chase me in the snow and nip at my giant snow boots, almost like she was trying to herd me like her ancestors do. She also gave pretty good cuddles.

I would love to see your pets, whether they're still with us or not! Do you have a favourite memory with them??

I have a cat, she's quite an old girl now and sleeps a lot during the day, which means waking me up several times at night by jumping on my bed and startling me.

We've had various dogs on the past - collies, labradors and others. Our current two are Kokonis (Greek spaniels), both rescued from a shelter in Cyprus.

I had a couple of blue heelers in my day. They were very smart dogs. My favorite where the two German Shepherds. One was my very first dog as a kid. The other was a white one (not albino), but the white breed. The people I worked for had three pure bloods and one had puppies. So many good boys and girls in my life.

SO cute!

That is such a sweet story!!! I don't think I've ever met a Pyrennean mountain dog, but they're beautiful!

Our last dog was a Pyrennean mountain dog. He was called Caesar, because he'd seize everything he saw. He was a giant soft teddy bear. Intelligent when he wanted to be, stubborn all the rest. For all his size, if you gave him a peanut or grape, he'd peel the grape/nut, then half the nut, then eat it. It would take him 40 minutes to do. I'll always remember that first call from Ian Powers at English Heritage. Where I live there is a castle five streets away. One day Caesar managed to escape from the rear yard of the house, we knew nothing of it, until we got a phone call from Ian asking if we had a very large white dog called Caesar. I replied that we did and asked why. We said we'd be right around to get him. Ian just said, 'no hurry, he's entertaining the tourists'. He was that big he'd back up to a seat sit his butt on the cushion which would make his rear legs stick out horizontally, and with his front paws on the floor would sit in the chair upright just like a human. I loved that big old dumb idiot teddy bear. Dogs are amazing, they make use want to be better people with the sheer amount of love they give us.
