Walmart stories...

Patreon member Bayliss (cheers Bayliss!) suggested sharing some life stories, including my very brief time working at Walmart. Great idea!

I worked at Walmart for 2 months in-between first and second year of college. I was back home for the summer and needed a job. Thankfully it was Walmart that called me back and not McDonalds (no offence McDs, I just don't think I could handle you).

One story that really stands out to me is...

Walmart's uniform is black pants and a black top with your ugly blue Walmart vest overtop. I had been working a full-day shift and it was finally time for lunch. Took my vest off in the break room and was ready to eat! I opened up the communal fridge and a full bottle of ketchup fell out, exploding at my feet and covering me in ketchup-spray.

Save me.

Tried to clean it up the best I could but I worked the rest of my shift with ketchup all over me. Being a teenager was a wonderful time.

Thanks for the clarification. Different definitions for each country. In the🇺🇸 that would be classified as an "Associates Degree," whereas the four year degree would be a "Bachelor's Degree," I think in the🇬🇧 and the🇺🇸 Several different "colleges," make up a "University." So confusing!😃

Oh lorddddd I can't imagine!!

College is different from University, you don't have a major! It's only two years and I studied Journalism - so I have a diploma, not a degree

Adventures and Naps

I thought before you said you did not go to college? We always knew you were a well educated woman! What was your major ? (Specific area of study?) I am going to guess: English Literature.

Edward TheJust

Sorry for the typo...😖

Try working in the restaurant business. You don't sit down except at break and that's 15 minutes from the time it starts until you go back to work. If you have to order or make food, you might as well just not. I brought my own food most of the time. That's why cushioned insoles are soooooooooooo important. I loved my insoles.

I worked in Sainsburys for 5 years during 6 form and Uni and the uniforms were awful there too. My worst story was went I had been there like 4 montsh they made me throw rubbish that had been piling up for days in the compactor for like two hours. It was so disgusting and rotten that I couldn't get the smell out even after 2 showers! Greatest thing about that job was as a motivator to work hard at Uni so I wouldn't have to do it for life!

I didn't know checkout operators had to stand in Canada, possible subject for a video differences in shops and supermarkets both as customer and worker between Canada and UK. That would be good.

haha

Brian I can't begin to tell you how wrong you are lol

😂

Pay was fine! Minimum wage. It was tough though because we didn't get to sit! Had to stand at the till for your entire shift..!

It took me a while to work out why a movie about accident and emergency would worry Walmart or concern Alanna. Think I've got it figured now!

Disclancer

Hi, Alanna, very mean not to give you a spare uniform. Did they pay well? I always wanted to try being a checkout operator but I never got to do that.

Stephen Parker

Walmart couldn't spare a new black top and pants? When "A&N The Movie" comes out Walmart will regret not treating their Star Employee better...🇨🇦

Steve Mikre

And thats why we keep the ketchup in the cupboard lol
