Chapter 57

'Bolo isn't deserving of my thanks,' Naruto thought angrily as he glared at the Gordanian that shot him. 'The idiot didn't think to make a notifying system for when the device runs out of power.'

Taking out his blaster again, he dodged the next bolt and fired. The bolt tore through the Gordanian's chest, causing it to drop as well.

Naruto stared at the two for a brief moment. He'd never had any trouble dealing with Gordanians but even with them, this job felt far too easy. Shaking his head, he made his way to the commandeering chamber.

As he reached the door, it opened and a Gordanian charged at him. Naruto sighed and shot it in the head before walking into the chamber and pointing his blaster at the last. Upon seeing him, it raised its hands up and began frantically speaking gibberish.

Naruto frowned and turned on his translating device. As soon as he did, the gibberish started making sense.

"-leave this ship to you!"

"I'm not a raider. Why're you headed for Krypton?" Naruto asked.

"There is something on Krypton. The Psions-"

"Whatever you're going to take there must be valuable if the psions went through the trouble of getting you to alter your plans with the Tamaranean." Naruto mused.

The Gordanian nodded rapidly. "We were tasked to bring it with the Tamaranean. That is all I am aware of."

Naruto hummed and shot it in the head. Pushing the dead body to the floor, he sat down and went on the command board to increase the ship's speed. He'd set his own to follow this one so there was no fear of having to search for his shop afterwards.

He went through the cameras and found the unconscious princess in one of the cells, heavily dosed on sedative gases. Well, that was a job done. Now for him to pursue his own sidequest. He highly doubted there was a person on Krypton. The toxic gases, high radiation and frigid temperature made it uninhabitable to every race.

That and the last surviving Kryptonian people knew of was currently on earth. Word of him fending off Mogul of Warworld had spread fast. But the point was, nobody could survive Krypton. Meaning that they were looking for technology. Kryptonian technology fetched a very high price.

Naruto activated the self-destruct sequence of the ship just as Krypton came within sight and went to retrieve the princess. Upon getting back to his own ship, he made for Krypton's orbit, ignoring the imploding Shuib.

Naruto glanced at Koriand'r as he donned his life support suit. She was relatively uninjured unless one counted the small burns from her touching her cell bars and the only foreign substances in her blood were the sedative gases. She'd wake up in a day or two.

Fastening the radiation filter and turning on the heater in the suit, he went into a launch pad and a few minutes later, he was within Krypton's atmosphere. When he went below the blue clouds, he got a good look at the world.

The landmass had been severely torn apart by natural disasters and he picked up locations of storms powerful enough to tear him to shreds in seconds. Best to miss those places.

Landing and exiting the pod, he looked around. The decaying ruins of once glorious buildings and advanced vehicles made for a very depressing sight. That coupled with the absolute silence made him want to leave as fast as he could.

"The Kryptonians must have been one hell of a race," Naruto muttered. "Makes you wonder how they didn't realize their world was dying in time."

Even amongst the ruins, he could see things more advanced than many worlds possessed. The death of Krypton had led to a recession in many sectors that took years to amend. He could see why. It had been a military and trade superpower in the economy when it was still thriving.

Sighing, he walked around, checking the radar on his wrist for an indicator of anything warmer than steadily freezing ice. Upon reaching the borders of what was once a city, his eyes widened as he was alerted to machine activity. With an excited whoop, he ran in the direction of the blip.

Reaching what looked like a house, he brought out a blaster and destroyed the door, bringing down a small part of the building. Sighing in annoyance, he made his way in, clicking his tongue at the sight of destroyed furniture and made his way further, taking extra care to watch for anything that might indicate a secret passage.

Breaking down a metal door, Naruto was surprised to see what looked like a laboratory. It was a lot warmer than everything else he'd seen, a testament to the sheer heat the functioning machinery gave off. But that wasn't what caught his attention. It was the device in the middle of the room.
