As we learned more about COVID-19, it became clear that the virus was not just a respiratory illness but a systemic disease with impacts on the vascular, neurological, and immune systems. For some people, even after recovering from the acute infection, a range of persistent symptoms lingered. This condition, often referred to as “Long COVID” or “Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection” (PASC), includes an array of symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain, and cognitive difficulties.
