Just a little more spooky "the whole town is doomed/cursed" stuff like in the opening, and actually commit to Corey instead of shoehorning in the final Michael/Laurie showdown and Corey staying dead. What could have been!

2024-10-20 16:17:07 +0000 UTCI really enjoy this movie, but get its criticisms. It’s a weird choice for the finale, but the ideas it has are very interesting. This is a more character focused movie where the evil isn’t Michael but rather a part of him. Michael being sidelined works for me. He’s not undead like Jason, he’s just an old man in his 60s by this point. The romantic subplot also works well for me, giving both Corey and Allison a reason to be here. I do think they could’ve continued the franchise with Corey taking over as The Shape, but I’m glad it’s over for now. (Not my favorite Halloween, just some thoughts)

They had to do something new to mix it up before the final grudge match between Laurie and Michael, and I believe in my heart of hearts that Halloween Ends will be fondly regarded when the dust clears and we look back at the saga as a whole.
