I'm gonna tear off my arm for the atrocities I've bestowed upon these poor people UGH

For some book context, this is the first half of book III when Rick is still actively dying for realsies this time and FJ has a full grief cycle experience all within like a month and a half. Once he finally has to step outside the hospital to just wail uncontrollably for a bit, Rick's crows recognize him, come and ask for food, and make everything like a gazillion times worse :,)

Idk whyy I started Illustrating the books from back to front, book III is so sad I haate everything haha

Tbh, one of the most interesting things to me that come out of book III is FJ's character development. This is, essentially, the first time he ever had to face reality without Rick ever since he had his brain injury that cost him his memories, and he had to do it without him there to guide him through it this time. He already had a difficult time with self-regulation and was anxious as fuck one way or another, literally didn't know a life without Rick and suddenly had to raise 2 of their kids plus Spencer occasionally all on his own T.T Obviously, he lost his absolute shit for a while there

I feel like this whole experience was the only reason why he fought his damn hardest to somewhat ignore the gazillion red flags that started popping up ever since the road accident. He truly, truly did anything he could to pretend it all had nothing to do with Rick and blamed anyone else for everything that happened - until he couldn't.
