Here, flashbacks and the present day work to advance the plot, although I do think Claire gets some subtle development here as someone with abandonment issues who feels the need to be independent. Emilie De Ravin was very good in this episode. Thomas is history’s greatest monster. I get that Charlie is harmless, but I have to say, he does irritate me from time to time. He sometimes comes across as domineering in that kind of weaselly way; I think I prefer his scenes with Hurley to his scenes with Claire, like when they golfed last episode. Speaking of Hurley, he keeps showing that he’s way smarter than he thinks. A census? Great idea. And he’s totally right, who the hell is everyone else on this plane? Even ignoring Ethan, we know of at least one fugitive. I definitely could have used Ethan being introduced earlier, maybe just one or two more episodes with him as a recurring character like Rose, who we haven’t seen for a while. That said, it’s a great reveal and that final, intimidating stare is burned into my nightmares. Ethan Rom, supposedly from Ontario. Wonderful reaction, glad you enjoyed this episode!
