JJ Abrams more made his name with Felicity (underrated show), who he made with Matt Reeves who directed two of the Planet of the Apes movies and the latest Batman film with Robert Pattinson. But yes Alias got JJ on the map with Tom Cruise and that got him the Mission Impossible job.

Love the subtle foreshadowing about Kate being the prisoner back in Part 1. When Jack first spots Kate before he asks her to stitch him up, she’s rubbing her wrists.
Also I believe someone already pointed out Daniel Dae Kim’s role in Angel, but Josh Holloway (Sawyer) played a vampire in the opening scene of Angel’s first episode.

Super underrated element but the score for this show is so dang good. The way they integrate it with the scenes is pretty close to perfection

My second favorite show of all time, (with Buffy as #1). I'm super excited for you to experience the journey. It's really a warm blanket show for me personally. It just makes me happy to watch it, no matter how many times I've gone through it.

'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
I love this show, and you’re right that this show was an instant hit. It’s hard to overstate how big it was when it landed in 2004, it got actual newspaper coverage in the UK prior to when it aired here. It was 2004, it was the most expensive pilot ever made, it was created sort of in the highly paranoid immediate post 9/11 era.
JJ Abrams was involved with the show, but don’t let that put you off. So, Abrams is the son of two producers so he’s kind of a nepo baby who made his name with a show called Alias, which is maybe most notable for launching Jennifer Garner to fame (which is why I laughed when you compared Kate’s appearance to Jennifer Garner) and having a pre-breakout Bradley Cooper as the Xander-type character. Abrams didn’t really originate the idea, but a lot of the concepts that form the core show were from him and the writing room after the initial pitch was sold. He directed this pilot, but his actual day-to-day involvement wasn’t spectacular.
The Republican Guard who Sayid mentions having been apart of were the opposing side in America’s Gulf War.
Daniel Dae Kim, who plays one half of the Korean couple, was Gavin in Angel and has kind of blown up here and there over the years. He’s been in K-Pop Demon Hunters, Crazy Rich Asians and The Good Doctor.
Massively excited to get back into Lost, but I have to avoid spoilers for you and I’m worried about even giving off a spoilery tone so I’ll leave it there. But trust me, this show will have you in a python grip.
