Did you happen to notice that one of the main guys in the swim team was the lead character in Prison Break? I’m unsure whether you’ve seen it, but it’s interesting if you have. He’s so much younger here! If you haven’t seen it, I’d definitely recommend it. Is it a realistic portrayal of prison? Of course not, but then again, I’d argue most media representations are not accurate whatsoever. However, it’s a throughly enjoyable watch, the characters are endearing, and I enjoyed the twists and turns. Could be a good show to cover on here at some point? I haven’t watched it in years, but from memory, it had quite the following!

Far out, 5 minutes in and you’ve basically got most of the plot figured out, more or less, hahah 🤣 Impressive! It definitely was one of the more predictable and silly episodes of Buffy, but still an enjoyable watch, nonetheless. Is it one I’d rush to rewatch? Hell no! Although, I have still found it to be amusing the first and second time. In all honesty, I still enjoy Buffy’s ‘worst’ episodes because they’re still leagues above numerous show’s best episodes. Ugh, the misogyny in this episode was fucking infuriating! It’s a shame things are still equally as bad.

This script was originally written for season 1, which is why it kind of seems out of place. I enjoy it though. There is one episode that's worse, but you won't see it for quite some time.

While you're right that this episode doesn't really touch on the main themes of the characters, it still gives us a few crumbs here and there, such as showing Buffy a little more open to social interactions, just a little and clearly nothing of romantic nature, Cordelia, in her own way, clearly committed at this point to the relationship with Xander, and Willow comfortable in a position of authority as a teacher and quite assertive when needed. More than a progression in their personal stories, this episode seems to give us a snapshot of how they are now compared to how they were at the beginning of the season, a remainder of how they have grown and changed. I always find … not really triggering but still unsettling the scene in the car, when the he starts to become, let's say it, quite rapy. Of course he picked the wrong girl, but all what follow, the covering up of the “famous” perpetrator and the victim shaming, it's played out so bluntly and at the same time so casually that it feels too real and it enraged me. I wish they had given more weight to what happened and Buffy's subsequent outburst, but I know, they have only so much time to tell an entire story, I get it … but still. Side note, this actually is not the first time Buffy kills, or better, causes the death of humans, all bad guys of course. So right off the bat, we have the evil mom in “Witch” and the zookeeper flying in the hyena cage in “The Pack”.

A like isn't enough. I have to say thank you for this. So many little things in this show.

12:00 I'll explain because every reactor that reaches this point is puzzled with what just happened. Okay listen again to what Buffy is talking about in her venting.. Two subjects she's pointing out.. One the way jocks are jerks ... Two that no one notices ..key word notices... then the camera pans to the Scooby gang with those looks... "those looks" are your answer .. look at the three people giving the looks ..who are they .. Xander ...willow ...giles who are they by society prospective... (geeks/nerds) who have jocks been jerks to since the beginning of sports... geeks/nerds ...no one ever gets it so I explain it, yes it could be different perspective but let's just go with the simplest solution is the one in front of us. Yes Giles was dark cool but he would have still been jerked by jocks.. So again let's go back to Buffy venting question. The look the Scooby gang gives is as answering Buffy's question "but does anyone notice" like hello you're preaching to the choir of nerds.. Buffy quickly realized THAT ..hence she stops and sits down to help ...we continue

It's not all bad, I'll keep Cordelia's fish speech to who she thought was Xander. Oh, and Willow's interrogation of Jonathan. But yeah, the placement is really bad and it's one of the worst S2 episodes.
