What you said about not understanding math and musical performance is pretty accurate, actually. Advanced musical theory is pretty much calculus level complicated. And musicians tend to do well at math.

She gives me Freddie Mercury vibes, particularly in just playing the crowd and sheer presence.

I'm glad The Giver got debuted on SNL, but I'm pining for The Subway to be released. Oof. Too great.

From what I've heard from her and seen from her performance is that she must visualize every song as a live performance like this in composition. Her songs are written to be experienced rather than simply listened to. Nowadays, that feels rare. Her songs are too big for a studio to contain.

i was in that crowd and it was truly the biggest crowd i’ve ever been in!! she’s truly an ICON

i saw her this summer at osheaga, a montreal music festival, where she was performing at 3. it was peak sun, peak heat (40 degrees), with security throwing the crowd water bottles - and thank god for that - yet the crowd was SO big, SO hyped, SO energized, it felt like she WAS headlining (i went for her, renee rapp at 7, and green day who were headlining). i have to say, i, who isn't a big festival person - i prefer concerts - found it was the highlight of my year. i loved her enough to go but somehow truly fell in love w her and her energy that day. the way she can bring in a crowd is phenomenal!! she posted a hot to go clip from osheaga and it throws me back every time, feels like an out of body experience, and i feel so lucky to have seen her now. all that to say, i resonate with everything you're touching on in this vid and heavily encourage you to go to one of her sets if you can!!!!! p. s.: saskatchewan, from the lyrics of 'subway', is a canadian province! 😋 p. p. s.: sabrina carpenter covered good luck babe! the jobros too (my beloveds) the same night i saw chappell! (talk about fate)

lo !!

when you said she’s like the ultimate encapsulation of all the chaotic energy we have in us….could NOT agree more. i remember running around recommending her album to everyone i knew when it first dropped because it just never fails to put a smile on my face, its so loud and all over the place and FUN. she makes pop music FUN!

god’s favorite sacrificial lamb

i’ve been a fan of chappell’s since the release of pink pony club but didn’t have the chance to see her until she did Austin City Limits festival a few weeks ago (or rather — i probably could’ve seen her before there but i guess i always assumed there would be time….i NEVERRRR realized she was going to blow up like she has in the span of 6 months) but the crowd there for her was absolutely insane and EVERYONE was doing the HOT TO GO! dance. she had jokingly said at the last festival people thought they were too cool for it but it seems like most of the time everyone is really into it. it’s just so fun (even though it was way too packed to properly make a T…LMFAOOO). one of the BEST live performances i’ve ever been to. the energy was just amazing and she can BELT.

god’s favorite sacrificial lamb

I was lucky enough to have Chappell as the opener when I saw Olivia Rodrigo on the GUTS tour and at the time she still only had about 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify where now she has just about 45 million listeners , so it’s been crazy watching her blow up as much as she has so quickly

Stephanie Welper

unfortunately she just finished tour but hopefully she does something in the next few years. her coachella performance was great bc that was her first big festival and how she blew up if you wanted to watch another live

ariel

She's sooooo good. I saw her in KC April 9th at a venue with a capacity of 3000!! I really felt like I was watching something historic.

broccolit0

I literally do not understand how she dances like that and sings so powerfully. I agree, need to see her live ASAP. also, "it's like watching math" made me do a spit take.

Taylor W.

ahhhh

ariel

Yes loved this show if you look closely you can see me haha I was here for this show and god was the crowd huge and loud barely any room to move and so hot but it was worth it!

Rachelle Elliott

Yesss I've been waiting for this! Watching immediately!
