This movie very much inspired what we endured and I will forever remember what it smelled like and how it felt to be crammed into the back of a van with 10 other girls, all of us covered in mustard, ketchup, maple syrup, and barbecue sauce. So sticky. Good times, lol.

2024-08-03 06:46:28 +0000 UTCThis has been one of my favourites since I first saw it when I was 13. I'd highly recommend the movie 'Everybody Wants Some' from the same director. It's a sequel in spirit, set in the early 80's at a college house for a baseball team over the weekend right before school starts. It has major Dazed and Confused vibes where you mostly go from one party to the next but every character has a mini-arc that unfolds over the whole movie. It's the movie where people first started taking notice of Glenn Powell, who's one of those actors that you just can't help but like, no matter what the movie is.

2024-08-03 06:14:46 +0000 UTCAh this brings back high school stoner memories for me (a bit foggy lol), it came out when I was in high school and it's always been a fun watch. Richard Linklater's first movie was "Slacker" (it was an indie film which btw inspired Kevin Smith to make "Clerks"), I've still not seen it but I understand it's also a movie that has no real story, Linklater has done some more traditional movies with actual plots etc., but his most iconic movies are ones that are more like this, sort of "a day in the life". He's also done some really interesting animated movies that I highly recommend if you get a chance, "Waking Life", a fascinating philosophical movie in my opinion; and "A Scanner Darkly", which stars Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr., Winona Ryder, and Woody Harrelson (animated, sort of) and it's an adaptation of a Philip K Dick story (he wrote Blade Runner, Total Recall, and Minority Report). Also, fun fact, there's a girl in a red and blue striped top you see several times in the movie, and she's in the background of a few other scenes too, that's Rene Zellweger. The behind the scenes is interesting because all these young actors lived with each other during the filming (not Ben Affleck, he shot his scenes and left, which actually helped because his character was intended to be disliked by the rest of the cast), well the girls lived with each other and the guys lived with each other in a different location, and they apparently had a real good time and bonded a lot, hanging out in Austin, which is a cool town btw. Love this movie, good time, great soundtrack, glad you guys liked it!

It's set in 1978 and the tone is more like Dazed and Confused with some That 70s Show thrown in. I wouldn't call it a must-see, especially for anyone born after 1990, but I'm never gonna say no to a movie Natasha Lyonne is in.

Like Richard Linklater with Dazed, Lucas made Graffiti as a nostalgic look back at his high school days (in his case, the late 50s and early 60s). And also like Dazed, it features a young cast of future stars, an amazing soundtrack and takes place mainly over one night.
