Switchblade Jay White update

“Switchblade” Jay White made an appearance at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom to the surprise of many to honor Hirohi Tanahashi. NJPW lifted the ban on him so he could appear at the event. It was kept very close to the vest, but also led to natural speculation about his future.
White sustained a hand injury in 2025, and also went ahead and had a much needed shoulder surgery. Immediately upon the surgery, White was sidelined for the remainder of the year. With White appearing on Wrestle Kingdom, AEW sources quickly clarified that White is not cleared for an in-ring return, and isn’t expected to be imminently. White is also not factored into creative plans any time soon.

2026-01-08 07:39:24 +0000 UTCI think this is in reference to his Kayfabe reason for leaving. If he lost to Eddie at BitV 2023 he left NJPW as some form of exile. Hasn’t been back (or his exile addressed honestly) since. But I could be wrong? I’m not aware of any other ban.
