More on Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize walking out of AEW

PWinsider reported that the duo refused to lose to Anna Jay and Tay Conti in what would have been their second AEW appearance. When Fightful inquired, it was stated to us that they didn't expect to win the match, but wanted more than the budgeted three minutes in the loss. They were told times had been set for the match and couldn't be changed.
The two left before the show and were replaced with Hyan and Maya World, who were thanked for their professionalism. AEW officials told us they were shocked by the situation.
It was communicated to Fighftful that Miranda Alize was much more vocal about the situation there and online, but that Nixon Newell also was adamant.
There were a number of talent who know and like Alize and Nixon Newell who contacted Fightful and felt like the duo should have handled things differently.
Neither are under contract to AEW. One source indicated that multiple people backstage went to bat for Nixon Newell after she'd mentioned she wasnt getting many bookings recently.

2025-11-10 20:58:24 +0000 UTCI used to wrestle on the undies and I would have killed for any tv opportunities. Especially if I was NOT SIGNED. This is just unreal to me. What makes it even more ridiculous is that they were complaining of lack of bookings. You need to be a team player especially if you're hoping for a job. This was not a smart move.
