Update on Chris Jericho, WWE, AEW, other companies

Chris Jericho has been absent from AEW TV for the longest period of his run, but there’s still plenty of speculation about him.

As of now, Chris Jericho’s contract is scheduled to conclude at the end of 2025, barring the possibility of an extension or that his deal is frozen. We’ve not heard of him being brought up creatively in AEW, but his creative typically is discussed directly with Tony Khan. Khan himself made it clear he wants to see Chris Jericho back. It was claimed in AEW that the relationship is still strong, but we've not heard from anyone close to Jericho on his view.

Even though Jericho’s contract isn’t up yet, Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed that multiple companies on a national and global level are interested in using him, including WWE. We have not heard if there’s been any direct conversations about him or creative ideas discussed, but he has been brought up among higher ups in WWE. It was clarified to us a couple of months ago he wasn’t discussed from a creative perspective within WWE, but a staff member did say that they felt like his mentions and references, and the reaction on WWE TV to him from the audiences was a good sign for his interest.

One WWE source indicated that Jericho would almost certainly get offered “several million dollars” annually to return to WWE, but said at this stage they believe AEW could match it and they weren’t even sure what Jericho’s motivations were.
