Select Answers: AEW Women's Tag Titles, Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix

Who do you see as the first AEW Women Tag Champions? My bet is Storm/Mina or Thekla/Hart.

I think it might be two upper-or-main card talent. AEW has always put the new titles they introduce on traditionally protected talent. PAC was one of the first people to "declare" that he wanted the world championship at their initial press conference, and ended up being the first All-Atlantic Champion. When the title became the International Championship, Orange Cassidy was champion, and he was largely protected. The Continental Classic and Continental Championship went on Eddie Kingston in the middle of a huge push. The TBS title went on Jade Cargill as she launched a huge undefeated streak. The TNT Title was put on Cody Rhodes when he was seen as a top star, but couldn't ever compete for the AEW Title. So if I had to guess, it'd be someone like Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor that they see as upper level talent.

Sean with it seemingly never going to end, and this one’s more of a your opinion kinda thing, what’s your whole take on the Gail Kim, Riho stuff?

Nobody came out looking good here. I like and respect Gail Kim and spoke with her about it directly. Riho has been through a lot of shit, a lot of bullying and the like, to levels I didn't even fully know until it unfolded. I also like and respect Kenny Omega, but I don't know that saying Gail Kim is after a TKO fruit basket when she's been one of the most outspoken critics of WWE among any former wrestlers is in line. I was disappointed to see Gail Kim even signal boosting weird theories that Dave Meltzer was "on a payroll," of AEW or any wrestling company when it wasn't true. The difference in all of these people and a lot of the people dunking on them was that they're almost always willing to have direct conversations about it, and I wish that would have happened.

Do you think Beth will work some matches in AEW?

I do. It's been a thing that has been tossed around within AEW for quite some time, and they finally found the right spot and the right situation to have her appear on TV. Adam Copeland is not done with All Elite Wrestling, despite his promo. He has more time on his contract and right now has to go handle other obligations. Those I spoke to in AEW felt like her competing will happen.
