Rumor Roundup and DEBNUNKATHON: Andrade, Gunther, Shayna Baszler, Big E, Saudi, Maple Leaf, More
Added 2025-09-19 14:31:58 +0000 UTCYour rumor roundup for September 18.
To clarify once again the rumors of TNA Wrestling and Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, there aren't restrictions prohibiting TNA Wrestlers from working Maple Leaf Pro. Both Scott D'Amore and Carlos Silva spoke to us directly about that story. However, there was a situation early where Moose and Jordynne Grace were unable to work the shows, but we're told that's because they were champions. D'Amore stated that he and TNA actually have an amicable relationship.
Wrestling Observer was told that lack of improvement on Andrade's English frustrated some in WWE. We'd never personally heard that, but it wasn't a factor in his firing. There was one situation in 2019 Summerslam weekend in Toronto where Andrade was not advertised for media, but insisted on doing the rounds to work on his English.
It is true that AEW talent were not sent on Ariel Helwani's show after Helwani's comments about Tony Khan quite a while back. However, we're told the PR department had pushed to repair that bridge.
Shayna Baszler has been backstage at NXT fairly regularly. Wrestling Observer's report that no official deal is in place for her as a coach or producer is accurate. WWE told us they were seeing how things went.
Wrestling Observer reports that Gunther would return very soon. Fightful had reported upon his absence that it was expected to be a fall return.
Wrestlevotes reported that WWE is not planning to go head to head with AEW through the end of the year.
A number of WWE staff and even a higher up reached out to say they've never heard Tony Khan called "snowman" internally at the company, contrary to reports.
Debunking Facebook Rumors
A number of terrible aggregators claimed that Bodyslam.net reported that Big E was "left in catering" at NXT and not used. We confirmed with Bodyslam that they didn't report that.
Several Facebook pages are claiming Saudi Arabia is paying WWE $250 million for WrestleMania. Those numbers are not confirmed.
Additional notes
Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed were originally set for media in Indianapolis today, but were pulled.
Rey Mysterio is gearing up for a return, claims a WWE source.
