LIVE Tony Khan Media Call Notes, Fightful Speaks With GOA
Added 2025-09-18 19:12:40 +0000 UTCTony Khan's media conference call ahead of AEW All Out is taking place right now. We'll update with live notes that are updated throughout the call. You'll also get audio before anywhere else.
Tony Khan is set up to explain the Women's World Title feud by someone explaining the feud already.
Tony says that maintaining ticket prices that are affordable for families has always been very important for them.
Tony Khan says he DOES have interest in running a "huge show" in the Spring of 2027 with WrestleMania taking place in Saudi Arabia, and says that AEW is going to plan a huge AEW Revolution.
Cope & Christian vs. FTR will OPEN AEW All Out, Tony Khan confirms.
We asked Tony Khan about AEW running different markets for Double or Nothing, All Out and Thanksgiving Week Dynamite. He's excited to try new things, including holiday shows in different markets but will continue to do a lot of shows in Chicago.
By the way, the reason you hear media say "can you hear me" on every media call is because the platform says "you can't unmute yourself" when you're called on.
Tony Khan said that in AEW, wrestlers are presented as their true selves. He wants wrestlers from all perspectives, and said Hangman Page and Brody King are their authentic selves. He wants the roster to be true to themselves, and wants many different backgrounds in AEW. Whether or not everyone agrees with his wrestlers isn't important to him, putting on a good wrestling show is.
Tony Khan tells Andrew Baydala that he felt like moving AEW All Out's start time was best for the wrestling fans, and they're always looking at the landscape to see what serves the company and fans best.
They've had success commercially in the afternoon this Summer and are expecting All Out to be the same.
Tony Khan says that Kyle Fletcher was always the plan for AEW All Out, and BURIES the person who originally miscommunicated to us that it was Wardlow. He says whoever said that should get out of the wrestling business (!). Then credits us for correcting the story.
Wardlow was supposed to return in a big way before this injury, Tony says.
He credited us for correcting the report and speaking with Kyle Fletcher and apologizing. Thanks!
Gates of Agony.
Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp and In The Weeds spoke with Kaun and Toa Liona of Gates of Agony today.
They were flattered by MVP's kind words, and they said that he saw money in them from the first time they met and wanted to help them. Both men said that the endorsement and stamp of approval from Hurt Syndicate was very important for them.
Kaun said that he approached contract negotiations with the plan of waiting until the last minute to sign, and Toa Liona signed much earlier. Liona remembered just a few years ago driving for Uber Eats and living in a one bedroom apartment with his family, and dreamed of having this type of security. They confirmed Fightful's report.
Their goal with Ricochet is to emerge with three singles stars. Toa Liona said nothing against Shane Taylor, Swerve or Nana, but they're tired of being backup dancers.
They would love to participate in a MEAT MADNESS match, whatever that was going to be.
They don't find the Ricochet laugh as funny. They see it as generating heat.
Comments
I love AEW, but Tony can be tough to listen to for an entire call. I stuck around for as long as I could before tapping out,
