News and notes from the weekend

• AEW has some additional apparel deals that will be announced in the coming weeks.

• There is a fake Bob Holly account on Twitter. It’s the same account that faked being Sid until he passed away. They just went away for a while and then rebranded. Bob Holly hasn’t used twitter in years.

• We are going to try to have an ongoing scoops thread tomorrow. The early nature of the show will mean that news is likely coming in throughout the day.

• We've been told that AEW is likely announcing specific Australia dates soon.

• We were told that the opening segment of GCW Homecoming was "worth watching."

• AJ Gray should be returning to GCW soon.

• Tommy Invincible is at tonight's GCW show dressed as Nick Gage.

• So far we've not been told that Isla Dawn has been signed to an AEW contract, but we're working on that.

• Lady Frost confirmed during a virtual signing that she's been under AEW/ROH contract for quite some time. We're told that a new deal actually started in the spring of last year and her current deal is closer to being over than starting.

More On WWE Star Appearing At Riot Cabaret Event 

We now know more on Pete Dunne’s appearance at Riot Cabaret.

On August 22nd at Riot Cabaret’s Knocking At The Door event, Pete Dunne would make a surprise appearance, sharing a ring with former rival Mark Andrews one last time. 

Fightful Select's Corey Brennan has now learned several details while discussing the appearance with Riot Cabaret sources, with the appearance being described as ‘hard work’ to keep under wraps this week. Those we spoke with cited wanting to have Mark in the ring with Pete one more time, and would praise WWE as being a ‘pleasure to deal with’, as the appearance has been in the works ‘for a while’.

As of now, Riot Cabaret sources believe it’s a matter of waiting and seeing if Dunne will be green lit to compete in a match in the promotion, although they did note that the promotion would ‘obviously love’ if Dunne could compete, but ‘many more conversations’ would need to happen before it became a reality. The sources we spoke with also would not rule out more WWE talent appearing in the promotion in the future, but that has yet to be discussed between the two promotions.

When we asked how this impacts Thunder Rosa being the promotions women’s champion, we were told that WWE were aware of Rosa’s position as their champion, with the belief being with those we spoke with that as long as there’s no direct interactions between AEW and WWE talent,’ everyone will be happy’.

BEAR BRONSON & GABBY FORZA (SAVAGE GNOMES)

Joel Pearl found a Bear and a Gnome at a wrestling show to chat with in Ottawa at C4 Wrestling’s Fighting Back event.

- Bear start off saying C4 Wrestling is always worth the trip from New York, where he and Gabby live, saying it’s always a blast.

- Gabby says it’s special to wrestle for Canadian crowds because of their passion and nobody “takes to gnomes” like the C4 crowd

- Their 3-team tag team match (Savage Gnomes vs. Kevin Blackwood & Haley Dylan vs. Cecil Nyx & Kristara) was Gabby’s first triple threat tag match, and Bear kissed Cecil Nyx. And Haley Dylan screams loudly.

- Gabby says it’s easy to team with your tag and life partner, especially when that person also taught you how to wrestle, while Bear has learned how to have more fun in wrestling because of Gabby and tag teaming with her.

- Forza was not very familiar with deathmatch wrestling through her training, and says it was terrifying watching Bear do it live, and her first time watching a deathmatch live was Bear’s debut in the genre.

- She has no interest in participating in a deathmatch at this time, but she DID put Krule through a door.

- Bear adds that Hardcore is a mindset more than a plunder match, that it’s never phoned in and always going hard in order to give it the respect it deserves.

- Bear decided to get into deathmatch wrestling after his AEW Contract ended as part of a larger list of goals. He notes that Richard Holliday pushed him to work with GCW.

- The Savage Gnomes won their first tag titles at Blitzkrieg Pro in Connecticut, saying it was really quick as they found out at the last minute. Bear put over the match and says they arrived late to the venue, changed and went out there to wrestle the match.

- Gabby dedicates her inclusion in Fighting Back to her Nonna in Italy, who is fighting cancer for the third time.
