Any updates on Private Party's contract i thought it was mentioned it was up in July
We never said when the contract was up, just that it was coming up. There's also the possibility of injury time. We haven't heard of any updates regarding their future, outside of some WWE interest a while back. I know they've been staying in the gym, something that Hurt Syndicate actually was said to have advised them to do. Hurt Syndicate had been vocal about thinking they could win back the tag titles, too.
What were AEW internal thoughts about Lena Kross from a few weeks ago? A lot of great potential matchups and pairings if she signs with them.
I heard nothing but positive things regarding her from TNA and AEW both. TNA has had interest in her for a very long time, and word got back to her that she had asked some TNA people for advice and insight, and that impressed them. They'd been trying to take steps to sign her, but I don't know what ever came of that, because she's still a free agent.
As someone who wasn't old enough to be watching at the time, what made the nWo such a big deal? Was it just that it had Hogan as a bad guy?
Oh man. Hogan being a bad guy after 13+ years as a top babyface was certainly a major part. However, you had Kevin Nash, six months after a WWF Title run. A couple of months off of a world title program. He'd been a top guy in WWF for years. Scott Hall was a few months removed from an IC Title run when that meant something, and had been a fringe top level star. Then they showed up on WCW TV implying that they were representing WWF and invading. At the time on cable TV, that hadn't happened. It was a very fresh angle with huge players. There was a clear divide between WCW and WWF at the time. A lot of the younger wrestlers weren't connecting in WWF, largely because of stupid gimmicks and bad booking, and there was clearly some more juice in the older wrestlers in WCW.
I would highly encourage Marc Raimondi's NWO book if you haven't already checked it out. It highlighted how important that angle was. NWO ushered in an era of "cool heels" as well. It was a different visual, different approach and something that pro wrestling needed with a lot of the kiddie approach of the 90s

2025-08-19 22:06:36 +0000 UTCI really feel bad for wrestling fans that weren’t alive or didn’t watch wrestling at the time during the nWo/Monday War Era. Inside information was available but not full accessible like today. You never knew week to week who would show up when and where. It was an excited time!
