Summerslam weekend night one scoops thread

• Sources that Fightful spoke to in WWE had expected Damian Priest to have a bigger role in Summerslam, especially after working through many injuries during the Drew McIntyre feud.

• This is the least surprising thing ever, but John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes is the planned main event of night two.

• People in the company haven't been told of any indication that the Rock would be at the show this weekend.

• We were told within WWE that this was likely the busiest WWE media schedule in history for Summerslam.

• Between the two nights, WWE is expecting a record gate for the event in totality.

• Nick Khan, Motor City Machine Guns, Jacob Fatu, William Regal and others were at Bloodsport today.

• Brie Bella is going to be in town for the show. She mentioned this publicly this weekend.

• Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs. Bronson Reed & Bron Breakker was slated to open the Summerslam card as of this morning

• Gunther vs. CM Punk was planned to close Summerslam as of this morning.

• Those that we spoke to were not expecting a successful cash in tonight, but even if it happened, it would be kept close to the vest. That is clearly what happened.

• We're told the result of the women's tag team title match was still being discussed throughout the week.

During the show

• Nick Hogan is in attendance at the event.

• Bron Breakker limped to the back and was helped after his match.

• There are a number of celebrities in attendance, in addition to the ones we've seen.

• A number of media have been told there is not a traditional post-show presser.

• We're told the social media reaction hasn't been an act -- Jelly Roll impressed many with his work ethic preparing for his match.
