Major WWE star was asked to read for big movie

MJF, Becky Lynch, and Nikki Bella were all featured in the film but there could have been another prominent wrestler.
Fightful Select has learned that Cody Rhodes was asked to read for a role in Happy Gilmore 2. There were some scheduling conflicts that prevented it from being a possibility, but the two sides had talks. We haven't heard how real of a possibility that it was outside of the read request.
The filming schedule was an extensive one, with MJF taking months off in AEW TV in order to complete the project. Becky Lynch also filmed her role while gone from WWE. MJF actually left the shoot for a day to work a match for AEW, which Adam Sandler and Julie Bowen discussed with Chris Van Vliet.
