Any update on Private Party?
They've been off television since losing the tag team titles, and I haven't heard that they've been brought up creatively. Their contracts are winding down and there's definitely been WWE interest. They are still under AEW deals though.
Sean what was the backstage feelings regarding All In Texas? How did the wrestlers, Tony and the city of Arlington/ Rangers ownership feel afterwards?
I've not spoken with anyone in Rangers management or ownership, but did talk to someone who helped the deal along in Arlington, and they were very excited about it, and felt like the city took to it well. The mood and reaction backstage was positive. It was a very busy and big week and AEW seemed happy with the execution and turnout.
I’ve heard stories of matches being laid out completely by the numbers ahead of time, while others were mostly called in the ring with little to no pre-coordination. Is there a standard approach today, or does it still vary depending on the wrestlers and producers involved?
Completely calling things in the ring is almost never done on major wrestling television these days. You coordinate with a producer/agent/coach, who then coordinates with their colleagues, and with the production team to make sure they're ready for big spots. On the independent circuit it can happen a lot more, but usually people are talking over the matches ahead of time.
Comments
The Cody KO pod episode provides some pretty good insight into how match planning works these days. They indicated that at the WWE level, big stuff is pretty much entirely planned, but that the more improvisatory wrestlers like Sami and KO will sometimes still be figuring out spots and discussing them with production right up until the start of the match.
