Gosh, that was a dense one! So much going on! But also, Kardi definitely got what she wished for.... she saved Mark, and also got to fire off the Revenge of the Sith line.

2025-03-25 17:25:16 +0000 UTCTo me this had elements of Erick's time in Ar'Kendrythist and all the last day or so there, with all of the infighting and divine interventions and so on. The Chelation War was horrific in a different way IMO.

2025-03-23 17:05:44 +0000 UTCI keep digesting the chapter - it was quite something! - and I realized that the level of manipulation by the demons/Kardi is something else. Taken at face value the history of Thrashtalon makes sense... expect it is silently employs a horribly twisted perspective no sane person would follow. Paired with the casual cruelty it really creates a repugnant mix that feels truly evil. From another angle though, the chapter was very confusing to me; even though Mark seemingly "won", and order was restored, the demons held the upper hand here freely throwing around divine aid and forgotten magics. The end result was planned for whatever sinister goals. I'm confused, but perhaps that was the goal? The demons are very much into mind games after all.

2025-03-23 09:15:25 +0000 UTCEveryone is treating memory issues as side effect, but I wonder if it was an important outcome from the very beginning and the memory loss will mask some important issue, like cultists stealing some important artifact or planting things in people.

2025-03-23 07:57:06 +0000 UTCGreat chapter, as always. However, for me, Kardi's power seems way too strong, enough that it took me out of the flow of reading a couple times. Like, what if she truly just wanted the death of humanity? It seems like absolutely nothing would be able to stop her.

2025-03-23 06:22:44 +0000 UTCAmazing chapter, a lot to unpack here. Someone compared this to the Chelation wars and that's fair. This ending though makes me think of the farm and then meeting the shades of Candlepoint. Lost memories and emotional trauma. pg 46: the only real limit to their killing power limited number of targets. -> the only real limit to their killing power being the limited number of targets.

2025-03-23 03:58:03 +0000 UTCThere was one major goal the “bad guys” the cultists had - to sway the war of life in their direction. That goal was achieved (partially) through what will be a propaganda win. Also, the thing about beings with near omniscience - them having that convo with Mark, giving sight to one of the things Mark wants… it is all about that long battle that Mark will be having the rest of the series. What the cultists want is very specific in this instance, and they achieved 90% of it. There will be sentiment positive toward them (in some people) and they potentially got out the info that would sow distrust in the empires… Big goals.

2025-03-22 20:08:22 +0000 UTCI think you're probably right. The odds of it just being really funny chaotic last words are less than I'd wish 😆

2025-03-22 19:33:32 +0000 UTCKilling Kardi mid Obi-Wan speech was perfection 😂 Man. What a great Deus Mulligana. It's cool that this is a timeline version of Mark that made it through this as intact as possible. I'm loving imagining it from Time Guy's perspective, it must've been a very different day.
