2024-06-16 08:41:04 +0000 UTCI feel like this novel has a VERY planned rapid power progression, and this makes it difficult for me as a reader to have feelings at this point in time. You have made it obvious that the real point of this story is NOT his path to power, though you incidentally are including it in story, but rather what he does with the power once he truly grasps it. Tbh.... im not entirely sure what he is gonna do with it. There are theoretical paths to him becoming entirely waaaaaay too powerful, but none of those paths lead to a meaningfully self directed life. How he chooses to NOT do what the world wants from him will define this story. Looking forward to it 😁

2024-06-16 08:00:48 +0000 UTCI can only really say to this very valid comment: Mark is still angry with Addavein, but kaiju are freaking terrifying and dangerous. can't say anything beyond that, and what was said in the story

2024-06-16 06:38:47 +0000 UTCI think I kinda hate that the main conflict with Addashield has ended like this. Mark’s parents are only a few months dead. Addashield the dragon is 99% Addashield the man, as we keep hearing. Mark, having grown up in a fundie society absolutely doesn’t get the difference on a subconscious level. Unless it’s made clear that Mark very much still plans to kill Addashield, and is just playing for time, his main character motivation and conflict is just gone. Like I’m happy to him grow, and long term parent resuscitation isn’t the worst goal, but all urgency has really been removed from the story. As well as a great set up for another long arc, with Mark having to deal with the fallout of removing humanity’s new source of infinite adamantium. Or I could see him getting to this point in the future, with age for both distance from his parents’ murders and maturity. Idk, even if this is the right plot point it feels super rushed..

2024-06-16 03:34:57 +0000 UTCOK, just a note. Saying 5 chapters is a bit disingenuous, since those 5 chapters contain 247 thousand words. Most fantasy novels are between 100k and 200k words. So take my review with a grain of salt. I tend to read faster than most people.

2024-06-16 03:19:42 +0000 UTCSo, five chapters in and I feel like I'm ready to comment on the story. In short I like it alot. It has interesting and unique world building, complex characters with unique voices and perspectives, and a story that just draws you in. It has a cool hook, where the desperate struggle of an unlikely hero to save the world succeeds relatively quickly, and the rest of the story explores how complicated happily ever afters really are (or if they even exist at all). The story inspires my imagination with the large amount of different powers and how they interact. And it all combined has me eagerly anticipating more. I was doubtful how the second work would turn out, with how awesome the first work was, but my doubts are mostly satisfied and I eagerly expect good things.

2024-06-16 03:06:07 +0000 UTCThanks for the chapter! I’m really hoping that between Healthy Body and Admantiumkinesis that Mark manages to develop TT. At some point he’s gonna end up with a Super Healthy Body. That should be worth something, no?
