Comments

Idk but I'm here for it

Diane Shleibak

The room size comment was an insult at Gwen. He sees her as a kid sitting at the grown ups' table

Diane Shleibak

Nope, just a Brit with a fake accent

Diane Shleibak

"I never realized how big this office is." the SHADE.

Diane Shleibak

Thanks. Rebooted this morning, flushed my cache, redownloaded and it works fine 😊

Chris Halliday

Everything works fine for me, perhaps there was a problem with your network during the download and the file somehow got corrupted so try redownloading it

gaycheese44

It is supposed to be a Magnus Institute statement after all I think it’s a lot to do with the perspective and style of first person narrative

ShinyPenUnlimited

I think there’s part of the arg about it

ShinyPenUnlimited

Oh wait I think there was a part of the arg about Colin’s cyphers

ShinyPenUnlimited

Not that I recall. Starkwall is a Protocol universe original. 😊

Trisidael

Oh my GOD!! This feels like such a tma callback, not just from the mention but just the style of the statement and the type of fear they were facing and how it manifested

Jo Millett

Is anyone else having problems with the download? I can play it from the page, but when I try to play the downloaded file, it won't play.

Chris Halliday

After 233 episodes I’m all caught up for the first time. It so happens to also be the episode with my namesake as a statement giver. ~sPoOkY~

Victoria Lisbon

was starkwall also mentioned in TMA? bad memory here, currently relistening to TMA so I'll give a shout if I spot them

Pia K R

such a creepy one, wow

Sarah Paulus

I mean, we know that the Fears have already been manifesting in the Protocol universe for centuries. The statement in episode 27 by Jonah Magnus, for example, was from the 1800s, and that had a coach that eats people. So, it’s difficult to pinpoint how the Fears crossing over from the Archives universe correlates to how/when they came to affect the Protocol universe. It’s possible the Fears re-wrote reality a bit, when they came through, so that it was like they were always there. Whereas individual normal people like Celia came through closer to the present day.

Trisidael

The beginning of episode 4, when Alice was chewing Sam out for activating a security alert when he was looking into the Magnus institute and “the Protocol”. 😊

Trisidael

"We can protect you from whatever comes your way, I guarantee it," Freddie is immediately like that's a lie.

Mikayla M

EWWWWWWWWWWWW AMERICANS

Finn O’Hanlon

I think that he was trying to psych Gwen out. He could tell that she was much less capable than Lena, so he pointed out the office’s size as a way of showing how poorly she fits the position. He’s offering her security, so if he can make her feel out of her depth and ill-prepared, she’ll be more likely to reconsider his offer faster. And he definitely views her reconsideration as a “When” not an “If”.

Nate Cabble

Is she?

Gareth Green

But since this statement was taken while the Protocolverse’s Magnus Institute was still active, the fears shouldn’t have crossed over yet.

Gareth Green

RUNNNN!!!!!

Gareth Green

Which is… odd.

Gareth Green

okay this might be dumb but i believe the size of the room here might be a metaphor for the OIAR itself, he never realized how big (and empty) the "room" actually was since Lena occupied all the "space" in it (she fit the role perfectly) while Gwen on the other hand doesn't know what she is doing, leaving all the "space" (the roles) that could be filled with something empty = not realizing the full potential of OIAR that was here with Lena

gaycheese44

i think so? it’s giving…. wolf 359?

TaigaTon

Is that good or..?

Mike White

Gives stranger vibes, which is weird since it’s from the 90s.

Gareth Green

i got whiplash from the american accent 😭

TaigaTon

He's also the one Kennings mentions was in charge of the dome project in episode 21

Trey Thompson

thoroughly freaked out. loved so much

Abigail Marino

let me tell you. that episode was not emotionally good for i, a “the computers are trying to communicate as best they can through the cases” theorist.”

Abigail Marino

Sooo much to unpack here I love it, can’t wait for more.

Leon Amber

THIS WAS TERRIFYING GOOD LORD

Abigail Marino

i’m glad i’m not the only one getting extinction vibes

Ace

Can someone remind me when starkwall was mentioned first?

ShinyPenUnlimited

Can the mysterious Colin cypher be alchemical symbols?

ShinyPenUnlimited

Their manifestations are definitely more together, but I’m not convinced they’re completely one whole, because of the separate things to be afraid of

ShinyPenUnlimited

So...did he never met Lena or did he notice before the size of the room? I NEED ANSWEEEERS

MarlaBothBothIsGood

Gotcha, thanks!

Madeline H

He was the guy with the office Sam ran into as a child I believe

Fae

Why is Brett shady af at the end……

Fae

I think they reshuffled! A pantomime that seems to steal your memories physically away

Amari Vega

Not true, she’s fooling herself so that’s 1 person

Ace

Omg that's crazy 😭 Number of people Gwen is fooling is still a solid 0

Madeline H

Are we going to see a PMC in a fire fight with Mr Bonzo?

James Rule

I was kinda in denial that despite their shadiness Starkwall might be safer for them but after that glitch I'm glad Gwen was so skeptical!

Madeline H

Also was the statement giver implying this wasn't the first time something supernatural happened to her when she said she was relieved to finally be in it with someone? I wasn't sure if she meant that or if it was more along the lines of wanting companionship.

Madeline H

Could someone remind me if we've encountered Doctor Welling before? His name sounds vaguely familiar. Also, fantastic episode!!

Madeline H

yeah that’s my take away. i think he’s saying that gwen is smaller than lena in presence/atmosphere.

Ace

Wait was he trying to imply Gwen wasn't filling the office w the same authority/presence as Lena? At first I thought it was some sort of compliment but that makes more sense 💀

Madeline H

Ooooh, great call back to MAG 156: Reflection! I was reminded of the spooky events at Forton Service Station from TMP 8: Running on Empty.

DJ Badillo

The statement feels so much more like Magnus archives statement to me I love it ❤️

Laura Korzelecka

It also felt a lot like the Extinction! Similar to that abandoned fairgrounds statement from TMA

Calliope

The only thing more brutal than peer review is that pun

Knielsen

ALSO YEAAAAAAAAH MORE GUEST WRITERS, LOVE ITTTTTT

RedDedZombie

Got to say, Gwen is an interesting character. She's ringing for Lena, so I expected her to bite immediately when Larz showed up, like 'yeah, ok, what do you know about digital exorcisms?'. I am invested so badly in this.

RedDedZombie

That’s just normal yank jobs things

pippi wrongstocking

I was at the Wellcome Collection reading their alchemy section when Mixed Signals dropped... Spooky stuff!

Akuma Lark

I was literally outside one of the piers in Blackpool when this dropped 🙁

Billie Hindle

I'm pretty sure Teddy is working for Starkwall now, the whole thing he was trying to tell Alice about his new job...

Trajan Miller

Holy crap! They HAVE merged! The Lonely, The Spiral, The Dark, The Vast, and possibly even The Stranger, together!?? So like how Jon, Martin, and Jonah, merged in a way, with some of their own facets left but together in a computer program.

Bryttanie Eastman

I think Officer Mustermann had an American accent too, iirc! But as an inhuman agent of the Stranger, he probably didn't have legit human citizenship XD

DJ Badillo

That was my thought too! 🤣

Mother of Ferrets

Oh I want to see Collins weird notes so bad

Iamjusthere

Got my food I'm ready for this ‼️‼️‼️

itufischl

WHAT THE FUCK IS A KILOMETER🇺🇸🦅RAAAAAAAAHHHH🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸

William Sander

Oh! What an episode. =DD

Jenny Rii

AN AMERICAN CHARACTER, RAH RAH [EAGLE SCREECHES} (Ignores the fact that he's a nefarious representative of a mercenary-for-hire company)

DJ Badillo

Awe man, this guy seems BEYOND slimy, I love it. Can't wait to see who's the first to poke the 'bear', Or likely Bonzo, in this case.

Alatus Dusted Beast

DUDE LMFAOOO “yeah we guarantee your safety” and freddie INSTANTLY called his ass out

Venus

First voiced American character in Magnus history and he’s the representative for a private security firm. Finally, a good representation of my people’s culture.

William Sander

Oooooh INTERESTING!

Loki Delano

[extended sounds of brutal peer review]

mercury on the moon

i now have a fear of Big Not!Fog :D

SentientBogOrb

i love how freddie glitches whenever someone speaks incorrectly. also “i never realized how big this office was with lena” is definitely eye-opening. gwen is giving me so much secondhand embarrassment 😭

Ace

Starkwall makes an appearance. Gwen's desperation to get a hold of Lena is deeply satisfying. Got exactly what she asked for and is damned for it. And a lovely, lonely, institute statement? Be still my heart.

BuriedInTheArchives

"peer review" oh man it's already the scariest magnus episode yet
