I always intended for Send Text Variety to be more than what it was. Back in December, I released an update to the mod and renamed it to Send Text Overhaul, but that was just phase 1. Now, the mod is fully realized with all the things I've wanted in it from the start. Here's what's new:
Now, after sending a mood-related text (Happy, Flirty, Playful, or Angry), the Sim you text will invite you somewhere that makes sense for them. Invitations are based on their traits and age, adding depth and variety to social outings.
A Creative Sim might invite you to a Museum or Arts Center.
A Teen may take you to a Café or Thrift Store.
A University Student could suggest meeting at the University Commons.
A Macabre Sim might want to meet up at a Cemetery.
A Spellcaster might bring you to the Magic Realm.
And much more!
Possible venues include: Cafés, Community Spaces, Recreation Centers, Arts Centers, Museums, Libraries, Beaches, Parks, Pools, Retail Stores, Spas, Small Businesses, Myshuno Meadows, Cemeteries, Clubs, Bars, Karaoke Bars, Lounges, National Parks, Ocean Bluffs, Restaurants, Onsens, Magic Realm, Thrift Stores, and Student Commons.
Sending a Sad Text will still prompt Sims to invite you to their house. Sending an Energized Text will still prompt Sims to invite you to a Gym (Children will invite you to a Park, Pool, or Recreation Center instead).
Not every Sim will drop everything to text you back. Responses now depend on several factors:
Only Sims you have a decent relationship with, compatibility with, or who are attracted to you will text you back and invite you somewhere.
Sims with certain traits might require higher friendship to reply, while others might ignore certain texts altogether.
Time of day matters! Most Sims reply between 9 AM – 11 PM, but some night owls and early risers may respond outside that window. The time of day (and even the weather) now has an influence on what venues Sims invite you to.
Not every text gets a reply, and now your Sim will feel it when they’re ignored:
If left on read, they’ll receive a "Left on Read" moodlet (~6–12 minutes later). They also won’t be able to text that Sim again for 4 hours.
If multiple Sims ignore them in a short time, they’ll get the "Digital Ghost" moodlet, preventing the sending of further mood-related texts until it expires.
If a Sim is at school or work, they’ll now text back to let you know they’re busy. Sims with traits like Paranoid or Low Self-Esteem might not like this, however.
I've updated the mod's description both here and on CurseForge. After tackling this, I feel like I need to tackle the phone calls in the game too. I'm already working on a phone number mod, but I think I might want to add these same tests to the phone calls in the game so that they feel deeper and make more sense.
