2024-10-20 00:00:19 +0000 UTCMe: "This music reminds me of Harry Potter...oh...John Williams score!" It's a fun film. Cher, Susan an Michelle are all so gorgeous. Poor Veronica Cartwrite.... I just rewatched The Birds, where she had such a terrible time, so I'm surprised she cared so much about these egretsπ Not everything in the plot is clear but I think it's apparent the witch's powers were inherent and maybe enhanced by their location, but that isn't really clear. What is clear is that when they came together, they were definitely enhanced. I dont's see Felicia's "visions" as divine. Makes me think more of those that were expressed during the witch trials as afflictions, particularly because she states she doesn't know why she says these things, and that he... the devil... is trying to get inside of her. She's gaining some sort of insight but it's as a torture that leads to her destruction. My take on the parable here is about when creativity, individuality, sexual expression, etc... is oppressed by a sanctimonious, self-righteous, hypocritical society, it can leave individuals vulnerable to nefarious forces which masquerade as champions of liberation. Those individuals experiencing a liberating awakening must be discerning enough to realize when they are simply being oppressed and used as pawns by a different faction, and cut ties. I'm sure I'm reading a lot into it but I also think the best stories inspire a lot of personal interpretation.
