Conan the Barbarian (2023) #1: Plot Script
Added 2024-10-11 12:00:20 +0000 UTCLast year I was honored to relaunch Conan the Barbarian through Heroic Signatures (the rights holders for Conan and the rest of the Robert E. Howard character library) and Titan Comics. The launch has gone extremely well and the response from readers has been incredible.
I previously posted the plot script for Conan the Barbarian #0, our Free Comic Book Day prelude issue, but have held off on uploading any of the regular issue scripts until a lot more issues were released and any secrets buried in these scripts had already been revealed. I will still have to occasionally redact stuff that spoils big secrets for way down the road, but otherwise it's time to give my patrons a look behind the scenes on how I write the new Conan series.
Rob De La Torre and I are collaborating closely on the storytelling and production on this Conan new series. I'm writing it "plot-style/Marvel method", the same way Stan Lee and Roy Thomas used to spin their classic tales. I outline what happens on each page, Rob illustrates it and then I come back in and add the text - captions or dialogue - along with a lettering guide for Richard Starkings to show exactly where each caption or balloon might go.
